Position Overview

The Electrical Coordinator plays a vital role in the successful execution of construction projects by coordinating and overseeing electrical construction activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications, project schedules, and quality standards.

The Electrical Coordinator serves as the liaison between engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, and client teams to ensure electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in alignment with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Coordination
  • Coordinate daily electrical construction activities across assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure electrical work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Monitor construction progress and proactively identify potential schedule impacts or resource constraints.
  • Coordinate work activities between contractors, craft personnel, engineering teams, and other disciplines.
  • Assist in developing and executing electrical installation work plans and look-ahead schedules.
  • Support the implementation of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Workface Planning initiatives, where applicable.
Engineering & Technical Support
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, and design packages for constructability and field execution.
  • Coordinate and resolve field engineering issues, design discrepancies, and requests for information (RFIs).
  • Provide technical guidance to field personnel regarding electrical installation requirements.
  • Support management of engineering changes and ensure field implementation of approved revisions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure electrical installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections and testing activities, including:
    • Cable testing
    • Continuity testing
    • Megger testing
    • Grounding and bonding inspections
    • Energization readiness reviews
  • Support punch list development, tracking, and closeout activities.
  • Verify completion of quality documentation and turnover packages.
Safety Leadership
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture in alignment with company and project requirements.
  • Ensure electrical work is performed in compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in:
    • Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
    • Pre-task planning meetings
    • Safety observations and audits
    • Incident investigations and corrective actions
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified.
Schedule & Progress Management
  • Monitor and report electrical progress against project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material requirements to support construction activities.
  • Identify and communicate risks that may impact project execution and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings and provide progress updates to project leadership.


Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and field experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of electrical construction experience in industrial, energy, LNG, petrochemical, or EPC projects.
  • Experience coordinating electrical installation activities on large capital projects preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting commissioning and startup activities is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and construction practices.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • NFPA standards
    • Electrical installation and testing procedures
    • Commissioning and turnover processes
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Electrical one-line diagrams
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Loop drawings
    • Construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on LNG, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodologies.
  • Experience with systems completion software and turnover management tools.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
