Responsibilities

The Divisional Vice President, Packaging & Strategy leads the strategic vision, brand storytelling, and consumer-facing packaging across the organization. This leadership role oversees a team of Senior Directors, Managers, and creative professionals responsible for packaging development, creative execution, and production operations.

Serving as a key connection point between brand strategy, marketing, creative, merchandising, packaging, and production, this role ensures packaging communicates a compelling brand story, enhances the customer experience, and supports business objectives.

The DVP defines the strategic direction, consumer messaging, and retail marketing approach that guide creative development from concept through launch. By establishing the vision, priorities, and standards for product presentation across channels and retail environments, this leader drives alignment across multiple functional teams and ensures the successful execution of cohesive, customer-focused brand experiences.

  • Define and lead the packaging and brand storytelling strategy across all product categories
  • Develop packaging frameworks that strengthen brand identity, improve customer engagement, and drive conversion
  • Establish packaging structure, messaging hierarchy, visual storytelling standards, and shopper communication principles
  • Manage a high-volume workload across hundreds of packaging projects, consistently delivering accurate, on-brand work within aggressive timelines and seasonal business deadlines
  • Translate customer insights, market trends and competitive intelligence into strategic packaging recommendations
  • Oversee the development of unified marketing solutions that influence creative, packaging, merchandising, and in-store presentation
  • Direct teams responsible for packaging and copywriting, while ensuring alignment to business objectives
  • Develop compelling executive presentations, strategic narratives, and business cases that influence decisions
  • Establish the long-term vision, priorities, and operating model for packaging and brand storytelling
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance leadership to team
  • Create alignment across merchandising, marketing, product development, creative services, production, and executive leadership
  • Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • 15+ years experience with 8+ years experience in a proven leadership role
  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Expertise in shopper marketing, brand management, and retail marketing
  • Strong understanding of packaging design, photography and production processes
  • Expertise in packaging and in-store execution
  • Strong ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines within a fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience creating customer-facing presentations
  • Experience interpreting retail analytics and sales data
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

 

The pay range reflects the potential base salary range for this role. Individual base pay is determined by various factors such as relevant experience and skills, and the scopeand responsibilities of the position.

Pay Range$200,000 - $225,000
