The Driver Manager is responsible for leading transportation and driver operations while ensuring full compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards. This role oversees company-owned and leased equipment, driver performance, yard and terminal operations, and coordination with internal and external partners to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective delivery of goods. The Driver Manager plays a critical role in maintaining regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and a high-performing driver workforce.

DOT & Regulatory Compliance
Deep working knowledge of DOT rules, Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation regulations
Ability to ensure continuous driver, equipment, and operational compliance
Experience managing audits, compliance issues, and corrective action plans
Transportation & Fleet Operations
Ability to evaluate fleet needs, equipment condition, and operational trends
Experience coordinating maintenance for company-owned equipment and leased assets
Knowledge of trucking terminal operations, dispatching concepts, and yard management
Logistics & Scheduling
Skill in route planning, scheduling, and managing vehicle movement across locations
Ability to meet shipping timelines and delivery requirements
Coordination of inter-store transfer (IST) schedules with shipping and store operations
Vendor & Partner Management
Ability to coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure equipment availability and service levels
Experience managing outsourced lease and maintenance obligations
People Leadership & Workforce Management
Ability to recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and develop drivers
Experience handling performance management, promotions, and corrective actions
Knowledge of payroll processing, employee reviews, and labor-related matters
Operational Efficiency & Cost Management
Ability to manage transportation costs while maintaining service quality
Experience improving logistics efficiency and operational workflows
Technology & Systems Proficiency
Proficiency with MS Office and transportation-related systems
Experience using ELD systems, video safety software, and other fleet management tools
Preferred Competencies & Skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in time-sensitive situations
Effective communication and collaboration across operations, shipping, and store teams
Ability to interpret data and trends to improve fleet performance
Leadership presence with a safety-first mindset
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent experience
(10+ years of CDL or transportation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
Previous supervisory or management experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet operations
Demonstrated knowledge of DOT HOS rules and transportation regulations
Working knowledge of geographic service areas and route planning
Understanding of labor laws and company policy compliance
Physical Demands
Ability to work in a transportation and yard environment
May require walking yards, inspecting equipment, and interacting with drivers and vendors
Expected Base Pay Not Including Potential Commissions, Incentive, Bonus, etc. Opportunities:
Annual salary of $75,000 - $90,000 (Based on experience)About Bob's Discount Furniture
