Volt is immediately hiring a
Mechanical Designer in
Richardson, Texas with an American semiconductor company that designs, manufactures, and supplies radio-frequency systems and solutions for applications that drive wireless and broadband communications, as well as foundry services.
This role supports the creation, release, and maintenance of mechanical and electro?mechanical documentation, including fabrication and assembly drawings. It partners closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement design updates, manage ECOs, and ensure accurate bills of material. The position also oversees part setup in SAP and ensures smooth documentation transfer from engineering to production.
This is an onsite role where the current expectation is to be onsite a minimum of four days a week in our Richardson TX OR Newbury Park, CA office. This is subject to change based on business needs.
- Lead in mechanical fabrication drawings and interact with vendors
- Advanced electro-mechanical product assembly drawings
- Aide in ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) to release completed drawings and bills of material.
- Implement changes to existing documentation based on input from engineering and the manufacturing groups
- Initiate new part number requests in SAP system in support of engineering development programs
- Audit bills of material as they are transferred from engineering to manufacturing to ensure all documentation is transferred properly
This is a

The ideal candidate will have: - A high school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of drafting/design experience
- Experience working with SolidWorks
- Tolerance stack up analysis, with GD&T background
- Ability to interface effectively with engineering and manufacturing groups to implement requested changes to documentation
- Experience working within AutoCAD & Microsoft office suite
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Qualifications: - An associates degree
- Experience in mechanical design work
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM Vault
- Experience with metal design
- Experience with design for manufacturing
Pay Rate: $44 - $45 per hour*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.

As a Mechanical Designer you will create and modify detailed CAD models, assemblies & drawings from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering. Contributes design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Checks 3D model versus project input for correctness and conformance to standards. Works with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation. May work with system management including file maintenance, backup and storage.

The ideal candidate will have: - Expert in Solidworks creating parts, assemblies, design tables and drawings.
- Prefer 3+ years' experience with advanced Solidworks and manufacturing.
- Proficient in AutoCAD creating 2D drawings.
- Mechanical background, preferably in machined parts, but not required.
- Experienced in sheet metal design is a plus
- Detail oriented, organized with the ability to handle multiple ongoing projects.
- Ability to communicate with sales, engineers, and outside customers.
- Familiar with engineering process, revisions, ECR, change orders, etc.
- Proficient with MS Office and Adobe.
- GD&T tolerancing and Tolerance stack-up is a plus
