About This Role

The Document Control and Records Manager is responsible for administering General Matter's document management and records management programs to ensure compliance with NRC document and recordkeeping requirements under 10 CFR Part 70. This role serves as the organization's records custodian, accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and retention of controlled documents and records across the company.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the organization's records custodian, with accountability for the integrity, completeness, and retention of the official record in accordance with NRC recordkeeping requirements
  • Manage version control, metadata, and classification across the document management system, and maintain an auditable register of controlled documents and their revision history
  • Ensure documents are prepared, reviewed, and approved in accordance with established signoff and signature procedures, and that only current, approved versions are in use
  • Administer day-to-day document control and records management processes, identifying gaps and driving improvements to existing procedures
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to ensure documents originating from those functions meet records requirements before they are finalized
  • Support internal and external audits and NRC inspections by producing accurate, well-organized records on request
  • Evaluate and apply automation and software tools to streamline document routing, review, and retention
  • Maintain retention schedules and ensure proper disposition of records in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in document control or records management within a highly regulated environment (e.g., nuclear, pharmaceutical/biotech, aerospace/defense, or similar)
  • Familiarity with regulatory recordkeeping requirements and the concept of a records custodian role
  • Comfort working with electronic document management systems and an interest in applying automation to improve process efficiency
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around version control, signoff procedures, and metadata accuracy
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Direct experience with NRC recordkeeping and records-management requirements for a 10 CFR Part 70 (or comparable NRC-licensed) facility
  • Experience managing or supervising document control/records staff
  • Certification such as Certified Records Manager (CRM) or ASQ Certified Quality Auditor
  • Experience supporting regulatory audits or inspections
  • Experience in a fast-paced or resource-constrained startup environment

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $115,000-$150,000 annually.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
