Position Overview

The Corrections Residence Counselor II supervises staff, serves as Shift Supervisor, and directs operations ensuring safety, security, and sanitation practices are followed. In addition, this position ensures staff scheduling, timekeeping and administrative compliance, directs and coordinates transportation services and coordinates contractual services and other center operations. The ideal candidate would be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises staff.
  • Serves as Shift Supervisor and directs operations during the assigned shift ensuring safety, security, and sanitation practices and procedures are followed.
  • Ensures staff scheduling, timekeeping, and administrative compliance.
  • Directs and coordinates transportation services.
  • Coordinates contractual services and other center operations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires three (3) years progressively responsible work experience such as could be gained at the Corrections Residence Counselor I level.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least four (4) years of experience assisting and providing transitional and/or reentry services to at-risk populations with histories of addiction, mental illness, homelessness, domestic violence, severe trauma, etc.
  • Prefers at least four (4) years of work experience in a correctional, law enforcement, residential, human services setting, or similar field.
  • Prefers at least four (4) years of experience working with diverse and/or multicultural individuals.
  • Prefers at least four (4) years of experience assisting individuals with fulfilling reasonable requests or assisting with daily tasks.
  • Prefers at least four (4) years of experience ensuring rules, policies, and regulations are adhered to.
  • Prefers at least four (4) years of experience working in a team setting.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience collaborating with other professionals, individual family members, and/or general public to assist individuals in custody or residents.
  • Prefers at least four (4) years of working experience with conflict resolution.


Conditions of Employment

  • Requires written and spoken knowledge of the English language.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
