Position overviewAs a Corrections Education Facility Administrator, you will be part of a diverse team who provides educational and Career and Technical Education opportunities designed to assist students in making a successful transition from a corrections environment to the community. Essential Functions- Plans and directs educational program including elementary/secondary education, vocational programs, special education, curriculum approval, work/shift assignments, etc
- Serves as full-line supervisor
- Monitors preparation/submittal of reports required by the Office of Adult Education and Vocational Services, facility requests for data, State Board of Education, College Contracts, Affirmative Action, Personnel, etc
- Prepares and monitors budgetary needs and expenditures
- Travels to attend/participate in staff meetings, workshops, other developmental programs designed to improve/expand educational offerings
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the dutiesnumerated above
Minimum Qualifications- Requires Professional Educator License with a General Administrative Endorsement
- Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible professional teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications- Prefers at least three (3) years of administrative experience planning and directing an educational program
- Prefers at least three (3) years of administrative experience developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating an educational program along with recommending improvements
- Prefers at least five (5) years of professional educational experience
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience as a full line supervisor
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience developing, analyzing, and monthly tracking of reports for an educational program
- Prefers working knowledge of educational programs in a correctional setting
- Prefers working knowledge of federal and state educational laws
- Prefers at least three (3) years of professional experience managing and working within a budget
Conditions of Employment- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, regardless of the position held, is prohibited
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings
- Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department
