Full Job Description
Key Responsibilities
System-Level Architecture & Modeling
  • Lead architecture exploration of next-generation AI, HPC, cloud, and enterprise systems.
  • Develop analytical and simulation models spanning:
    • Memory hierarchy
    • CXL memory expansion
    • HBM systems
    • GPU-attached memory
    • Storage-memory convergence
    • Rack-scale disaggregation
    • AI infrastructure fabrics
    • LLM Inference pipeline deployment
    • Agentic AI
  • Define performance, latency, bandwidth, power, and TCO models to guide future product strategy.
  • Build rack-scale and cluster-scale simulation environments to evaluate emerging workloads and architectures.
Workload Characterization & Analysis
  • Analyze AI training, inference, cloud, database, enterprise, storage, and HPC workloads.
  • Develop workload taxonomies and behavioral models that capture:
    • Memory bandwidth demand
    • Capacity requirements
    • Data movement patterns
    • LLM inference
    • Interconnect utilization
    • QoS behavior
  • Translate customer and industry workloads into representative simulation models and benchmarks.
  • Identify future memory and system bottlenecks and recommend architectural innovations.
Architecture Co-Optimization
  • Drive cross-stack optimization across:
    • Applications
    • Frameworks
    • Operating systems
    • Runtime software
    • Memory subsystems
    • Storage infrastructure
    • Networking fabrics
  • Quantify tradeoffs among performance, power, reliability, capacity, and cost.
  • Influence future product definitions for DRAM, HBM, CXL, SSD, and emerging memory technologies.
Technical Leadership
  • Serve as a recognized technical authority across the organization.
  • Influence architecture decisions across multiple business units.
  • Define long-term modeling and simulation strategy.
  • Mentor senior architects and engineers.
  • Represent the company in standards bodies, ecosystem initiatives, academic collaborations, and industry conferences.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • PhD or MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in system architecture, performance engineering, or infrastructure architecture!
  • Proven experience developing large-scale performance models and simulation frameworks.
  • Deep expertise in memory systems, storage systems, or AI infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence product direction through quantitative architectural analysis.
  • Strong track record of patents, publications, or industry technical leadership.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$215,000.00 - $416,000.00 a year

Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
