Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Division Digital Manager - Cables will lead the development, deployment, and scaling of digital solutions across North America cable manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving measurable improvements in productivity, yield, and operational efficiency through the application of advanced analytics, vision systems, machine learning, and process optimization.

In addition to leading project execution, this position will establish a structured digital intake and prioritization framework, enabling consistent identification, evaluation, and deployment of high-impact opportunities. The role will ensure solutions are designed for scalability across plants, integrated into existing systems, and adopted effectively by operations to deliver sustained business value.

The successful candidate will combine deep understanding of cable manufacturing processes with strong technical expertise and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of digital solutions in: Advanced data analytics, Machine learning and AI-enabled workflows, Vision systems, and Process optimization and automation
  • Ensure adherence to rigorous development methodologies (DMAIC, DESGN, MEE) to deliver robust, measurable, and sustainable outcomes
  • Drive development of data-driven and prescriptive solutions, enabling improved decision-making and operational performance
  • Coordinate and balance a portfolio of digital workstreams across plants and functional groups
  • Ensure digital solutions are built on integrated, scalable data architectures, connecting shop-floor systems (PLC, SCADA, MES) to analytics platforms.
  • Define and enforce standards for: Data pipelines and data quality, system integration and interoperability, and reusable digital components and platforms.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of cable manufacturing processes and equipment, with ability to decompose processes into fundamental drivers of performance
  • Advanced analytical capabilities using tools such as SQL, Databricks, and Python
  • Experience with industrial systems including PLCs, SCADA (e.g., iFIX), and data historians
  • Familiarity with vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) and machine learning applications in manufacturing
  • Experience developing optimization or decision-support models preferred
  • Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies (DMAIC, DESGN, MEE)

  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in a matrixed organization
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills grounded in data and process understanding
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Track record of delivering measurable operational improvements

Additional Information

  • Travel Requirements: 20% or more, with occasional weekend/after-hours support for projects resolution.
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.


This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $146,918.00 - $202,013.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
