Job Summary
The District Sales Manager manages a team of sales representatives within a specific district or region. Develops sales strategies and goals for the district, implements sales plans, and monitors performance against targets. Provides coaching, training, and support to sales team members to help them achieve their sales objectives. Collaborates with other departments, such as marketing and product development, to ensure alignment of sales efforts with overall business objectives. Analyzes sales data, market trends, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. Communicates regularly with senior management to provide updates on sales performance and market conditions within the district.

Essential Functions
• Ensures that planned sales volume is attained. Maintains industry leadership
• Ensures that optimum price levels are reached in the marketplace
• Develops new business through expansion into other market areas
• Recommends and implements strategies to increase customer satisfaction
• Maintains company image and high professional standards of doing business
• Develops and evaluates competitive market information to be used in analyzing sales potentials, new plant locations, proposed expansions and acquisitions
• Recommends and/or evaluates product modifications or improvements based on the findings of market research, technical service work or customer and industry feedback
• Oversees bidding process on major projects, negotiates prices with material suppliers, and establishes sales price for products to maximize profitability
• Prepares sales budget for assigned area. Directs activities to identify opportunities for improving competitive position through territory planning and management. Prepares related sales forecasts and predicts sales expenses
• Participates in strategic planning activities and provides input for sales in assigned area
• Presents and briefs management staff on recommendations
• Recommends changes in sales policy, advertising, and sales promotional activities, and the pricing structure to improve company's competitive posture and promote increased sales penetration in the area
• Coordinates with production management concerning the impact of anticipated sales on production scheduling and issues relating to customer service
• Monitors and evaluates performance of subordinates and aids them in career development using training programs, providing feedback, coaching, mentoring and goal setting
• Improve sales process including customer service and order fulfillment procedures
• Active participant in community relations programs
• Able to be a strategic business partner and resource for our customers
• Jointly responsible for collection of accounts receivable within Vulcan Materials
• Collaborate with management representatives such as engineers, architects, or other professional or technical personnel at commercial, industrial, or other establishments to gather research on best recommendation of product in regards to desirability and practicability of products for prospective client
• Prepares contracts and may train the customer's employees in the use of materials
• Works with customers to resolve problems and works with plant personnel to insure adequate supplies of products are available
• Represents the company at industry meetings and events, government and community meetings and events with customer
• Complies with all safety, health, environmental & training policies, procedures and requirements

Responsibilities

Education
• A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent is required, with emphasis in Business Administration.
• Courses in Sales and Marketing, and Public Relations are desirable.

Experience
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of sales experience in the construction/mining industry, including two (2) to four (4) years of supervisory experience.

• Knowledge of construction materials industry
• Knowledge of basic financial practices and economics of the business
• Knowledge of Quality Control Testing and Specifications

• Knowledgeable in Google Maps, APEX, CATAVOLT, SBFS, Sales Analytics
• Must be able to establish price structure and market analysis
• Negotiating, analytical and organizational skills essential
• Must be an effective communicator to deal with diverse group of people both externally and internally
• Motivational and team building skills a must

Other Requirements
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Local and regional travel by automobile and periodic need to travel by airline.
• This position requires knowledge and awareness of construction, mining and asphalt plant site hazards.
• Will be required to wear protective gear when working near or on construction sites, including gear to protect against exposure to chemical solvents and fumes for asphalt tests.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
