We are hiring a District Manager, East Coast to lead our Retail Store teams. This position reports to the Director, Retail and takes Away further, driving district-wide growth and brand elevation by coaching and empowering Store Managers, scaling operational excellence, and ensuring every location delivers an immersive customer experience that deepens brand love and loyalty.

As a strategic bridge between HQ and field operations, you will partner cross-functionally across People & Culture, L&D, Brand, Loss Prevention, Retail Operations, and Merchandising to translate company strategy into seamless store-level execution and measurable performance.

This role will oversee the following retail locations: Noho (NYC), Williamsburg (NYC), Newbury (Boston), Georgetown (Washington D.C.), Yorkdale (Toronto)

What you'll do as the District Manager, East Coast

Financial & Operational Strategy Support
  • You'll collaborate with the Director, Retail by providing data, sales analysis, local trends, and operational insights to inform district financial planning and boost sales
  • You'll translate retail strategies into structured execution plans for your district, owning the prioritization of store workstreams to ensure seamless technology rollouts and launch executions

Cross-Functional Partnership & Compliance
  • You'll serve as the primary liaison between your stores and key cross-functional partners, including Retail Ops, Brand, and L&D
  • You'll participate in cross-functional projects or initiatives that improve store efficiency or customer experience, reporting progress and feedback to Retail leadership
  • You'll develop and nurture community engagement through store activations and local events that align with Brand's marketing calendar

Team Coaching & Talent Management
  • You'll provide oversight and coaching to store managers on daily execution, operational excellence, sales performance, and budgets
  • You'll lead the execution of district cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving store efficiency and customer experience, partnering across teams to deliver measurable outcomes
  • You'll reinforce accountability by conducting regular store visits and business reviews, ensuring managers are equipped with the knowledge (brand/product) and tools to achieve results


Who you are
  • You have a minimum of 3 years of multi-unit leadership experience (e.g., District Manager/Area Manager) or a minimum of 4 years as a high-performing Store Manager in a high-volume retail environment
  • You have exceptional business acumen with the ability to analyze retail KPIs, financial reports, and merchandising analytics to drive store performance
  • You have a proven track record of successfully coaching and developing other managers to meet or exceed district business goals
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire geographically dispersed teams
  • You're a resourceful problem-solver who can resolve operational challenges of medium complexity and make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • You have the ability to travel up to 75% of the time across the assigned district territory, with overnight travel required
  • Ability to pull, push, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds throughout the duration of a work shift
  • Ability to stand/be on feet for extended periods of time throughout the duration of a work shift
  • Ability to bend, squat, twist, and reach as needed throughout the duration of a work shift
  • You're creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand

What We Offer

Our total rewards are inclusive of both compensation and benefits. What we offer within a salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. Salary and benefit offerings are reviewed during phone screenings to ensure alignment.
  • Compensation: $120,000.00-$130,000.00 annually
  • This role is eligible to participate in Away's Annual Company Performance Incentive Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined at the discretion of the company
  • Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company

How We Work

This is an office-based position that works from our Soho, NYC office four days a week. Our working hours are 9am-6pm et, but we embrace a common-sense approach to flexibility in the workplace. It's about being present, engaged, and balancing work with real-life needs.

Additionally, this position requires travel up to 75% of the time across the assigned district territory, with overnight travel required.
