Job Summary

The Distribution Supervisor in Substation Maintenance is responsible for the daily operation of maintaining, trouble shooting and constructing LIPA Substations. Distribution Supervisors will manage Union field technicians and mechanics.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analytical ability to interpret substation design and provide alternatives that are more cost effective
  • Lead and motivate Bargaining Unit personnel to successfully perform maintenance and construction activities
  • Manage projects to ensure they stay within budget constraints
  • Collaborate with various organizations to ensure the successful completion of projects Develops creative solutions of the absence of proper material
  • Technical ability in all facets of electrical equipment maintenance and substation construction
  • Develops a coordinated construction plan to successfully complete the projects


Job Specific Qualifications

  • High School Diploma and 5 years' experience in the maintenance, repair and troubleshooting electrical equipment in substations, power plants, facilities and or construction of substations
  • Supervisory experience preferable union or trade
  • Interpreting engineering designs and modifies designs as required to ensure operating needs are met
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e.,Excel, Word)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US Driver's License with a safe and satisfactory driving record
  • Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required

Desired
  • Experience working in a Union environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Experience workings with represented labor and interpretation of Collective Bargaining agreement
  • Prior experience in Electric Utility or related experience
