Full Job Description
Purpose

The Distribution Manager handles all aspects of the distribution operation within the facility to ensure excellence in customer service through resolving customer issues and timely delivery of products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing workflows, interface with couriers, ordering supplies to stock shipping stations.
  • Encourage and promote a collaborative environment
  • Take a positive, equitable approach to developing employees through training, coaching and mentoring
  • Supports pharmacy leadership in optimizing staffing, workload distribution, and team structure through operational and quality metrics that enhance efficiency and patient care outcomes.


Shipping and Distribution
  • Prepares medications for shipment to insure integrity, sterility, and stability of drugs and
  • supplies
  • Electronically tracks shipments to confirm on-time delivery throughout the day, Monday -Saturday until all packages are delivered
  • Follows all designated checklists supplied with an attention to detail
  • Communicates directly to patients regarding expected arrival times, delays in delivery and
  • explains recovery strategy in detail to Pharmacy Manager and Director of Operations
  • Coordinates the dissemination of information to patients (regarding holiday closings and
  • unscheduled closings) via package inserts as approved by Director of Operations
  • Reviews shipping manifests daily to confirm delivery address and delivery times
  • Receives inbound shipments and distributes them throughout the building
  • Resets shipping room at the end of each day (prepare for the next business day)


Administrative
  • Works closely with pharmacy leadership regarding start dates, demographic information and
  • alternate shipping addresses
  • Reconciles shipping supply packing slips with invoices and forwards to Director, Specialty
  • Pharmacy with appropriate notations
  • Reconciles carrier invoices with shipping manifest for accuracy in billing
  • Researches vendor costs for competitive pricing of packing/shipping materials on regular basis


Minimum Requirement

Typically requires 3+ years of subject matter experience including exhibiting leadership capabilities.

Education

HS diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred

Critical Skills
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to listen and interpret people's dispositions
  • Ability to perform under pressure
  • Experience with inventory management preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of computers
  • Ability to create and manipulate MS Word documents
