Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY FB Titan is seeking an experienced Foreman - Powerline Technician to lead a four-person line crew supporting ongoing utility construction and maintenance work. This is a local opportunity with no travel or living out, allowing the successful candidate to be home every night while working on a consistent program. The Foreman will provide day-to-day leadership to the crew and be responsible for safety, production, quality, materials, equipment, field documentation, and coordination with the utility and other project stakeholders. This is a working Foreman position, requiring hands-on involvement in overhead, underground, and transmission line work. The ideal candidate will have strong field leadership experience, a solid understanding of utility construction, and the ability to keep a crew productive, safe, and organized. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Field Leadership & Operations - Lead and participate in the successful completion of distribution and transmission construction and maintenance projects. - Lead a four-person line crew and provide day-to-day direction and support. - Plan daily work activities and coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and resources to meet production requirements. - Conduct daily tailboard meetings and ensure crew members understand the work plan, hazards, controls, and individual responsibilities. - Maintain accountability for daily production against the work plan. - Provide hands-on leadership as a working Foreman. - Coordinate work activities with the General Foreman, utility representatives, inspectors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders as required. - Communicate project progress, concerns, resource requirements, and changes in scope to supervision and project management. - Ensure work is completed efficiently and in accordance with project specifications and client requirements. Safety & Quality - Promote and maintain a strong safety culture within the crew. - Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, client requirements, applicable regulations, IBEW outside line requirements, and established safe work practices. - Identify hazards and implement appropriate controls to mitigate risk. - Ensure all crew members are fit for duty and properly qualified for assigned work. - Monitor work quality and productivity to ensure project objectives are achieved. - Conduct and participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Identify opportunities to improve work methods, productivity, and safety performance. Utility & Line Construction - Oversee and participate in underground distribution, overhead distribution, and transmission work. - Support both energized and de-energized work, as assigned and within applicable qualifications. - Read and interpret construction drawings, staking sheets, work packages, and project specifications. - Oversee and participate in activities including: - Overhead line construction and maintenance - Underground utility construction - Pole framing - Stringing - Transformer installation - Switchgear work - Distribution construction and maintenance - Transmission construction and maintenance - Coordinate with utility representatives and inspectors to ensure work meets project requirements. - Ensure materials, vehicles, and equipment are properly maintained, inspected, and available for the work. - Complete daily vehicle and equipment inspections and address maintenance requirements as needed. Crew Development - Mentor, coach, and develop apprentices, Journeyman Linemen, and other crew members. - Provide direction and feedback to ensure safe, productive, and high-quality work. - Support crew performance reviews and development planning. - Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive crew environment. - Identify training and development opportunities for crew members. Documentation & Administration - Complete and maintain required project documentation accurately and on time - Communicate field activities, progress, challenges, and changes to the General Foreman and Project Management. - Maintain accurate records of crew activities and production. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience - Journeyman Powerline Technician / Journeyman Lineman qualification required. - Minimum three (3) years of Journeyman-level experience. - Previous experience as a Foreman, Crew Leader, or Lead Hand strongly preferred. - Demonstrated experience working on utility distribution and/or transmission projects. - Experience leading and coordinating field crews. - Experience with energized and/or de-energized work considered an asset. - Strong understanding of utility construction practices and safe work procedures. Skills & Abilities - Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities. - Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices. - Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, staking sheets, and work packages. - Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Effective communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to coordinate effectively with utility representatives, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams. - Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships. - Ability to work independently while providing strong leadership to a field crew. - Proficient with standard field documentation and reporting requirements. - Physically capable of performing the duties of the role in varying weather and site conditions. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Candidates must: - Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. - Successfully complete any required pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. - Meet applicable IBEW outside line agreement and qualification requirements. - Be willing and able to perform energized or de-energized work as assigned and qualified. - Work outdoors in varying weather and job-site conditions. - Meet the physical requirements of powerline construction and maintenance work. The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements. This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting. Base Pay Range $66.91-$71.56 USD
