Your Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate Distinguished Engineer in Customer Experience Technology (CET) to help take our digital client experience to the next level. The role centers on external-facing retail web and mobile platforms, while also influencing the architecture of adjacent CET capabilities that support sales, marketing, representative, and customer support experiences across real-time transactional and distributed systems.

This role focuses on driving retail web and mobile platform technical strategy and implementation to provide our customers the best online experience, while also helping shape the broader CET architecture across sales, marketing, representative, and customer support technology platforms. You will play a thought leader role in the retail technology space influencing the company’s technology strategy and vision. An ideal candidate will enjoy being part of an impactful and growing digital team, working in a fast-paced environment, be process and engineering oriented, have strong communication skills, and have extensive experience with solving complex engineering problems. This role requires a creative mindset, strong technical leadership and ability to forge relationships with many internal and external partners.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Drive technical strategy and solution design for retail web and mobile platforms, with alignment to the broader CET ecosystem.
  • Provide architectural guidance across related CET platforms supporting sales, marketing, representative, and customer support experiences, ensuring alignment with the external-facing digital strategy.
  • Lead cross-function engineering teams to solve complex engineering problems for our online customers.
  • Reviews of design, architecture, and code produced by other engineers.
  • Elevate engineering quality and securirty through oversight and incremental evolution of architectural governance.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and User Experience teams on ideation, prototyping, and planning.
  • Influence firm-wide tech strategy and priorities at the senior executive level.
  • Lead architecture for client-facing AI capabilities across web and mobile, including conversational assistants, AI-powered search, personalization, and guided digital actions.
  • Establish secure, scalable AI patterns, reusable services, evaluation practices, observability, guardrails, and governance for trustworthy AI delivery.
  • Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
  • Advance engineering productivity through internal AI tools for coding, testing, documentation, release readiness, security remediation, and developer knowledge sharing.
  • Build a team and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence and innovation.
What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 15+ years of software engineering and architecture experience, including significant leadership of large-scale digital platforms.
  • Experience designing or governing AI-enabled digital experiences, including generative AI, conversational AI, AI search, personalization, and client service workflows.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI, including evaluation, grounding, privacy, observability, auditability, and risk controls for regulated solutions.
  • Experience using AI to improve engineering effectiveness through developer copilots, test generation, code quality, support automation, and reusable prompts or skills.
  • Industry experiences in the fields of large-scale and highly-available online systems.
  • Proficient in Angular and/or React.
  • Deep understanding of API-powered JavaScript applications (i.e., REST).
  • Extensive experience with responsive web development across browsers.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture, platform modernization, DevSecOps, observability, reliability engineering, and secure software delivery practices.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
