Summary

Manage Directorate program execution as the technical lead of the Directorate with functional management responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the Senior Program Manager in the execution of programs across the CoE.
  • Helps identify and track critical paths across the CoE and coordinate support across all disciplines to mitigate any identified risks.
  • Tracks, reviews, and reports the status of each program within a CoE.
  • Coordinates the identification and adjudication of issues, risks, and opportunities across the CoE.
  • Facilitates cross-functional organization communication across the enterprise to achieve program execution objectives.
  • Functional management responsibilities for Program Engineers assigned to the CoE; performance, career development, goal setting and training.
  • Proactively manages CoE near and long-term staffing demands, coordinates with the Engineering Functional Resource Managers to identify the CoE required support.
  • Cost Account Management (CAM) responsibility to the CoE, assigns job assignments based on priority and suitability, and monitors project cost, progress, and quality to completion.
  • Develops, communicates and documents CoE roadmap of strategies and plans harmonized with the company overall technology roadmap with an overall goal of convergence when applicable.
  • Leads programs in the identification and sale of ECPs and follow-on opportunities.
  • Supports proposal development, review, and approval for; technical, cost and schedule for Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and new business capture.
  • Reviews work across all programs in the LOB and defines process improvement needs.
  • Ensures convergence and re-use of previous designs is considered when applicable. Supports the Manager/Director in interpreting and enforcing overall company policies and goals and defining and enforcing standards within the group.
  • Based on staffing levels, the PEM will fill in as the Program Engineer on some programs to cover short term staffing shortages.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • B S degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Aerospace discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years9 work experience in flight simulation or related industry.
  • Experience with cost estimating, budgeting/scheduling, and task performance management.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering product lifecycle.
  • Experience with parts procurement and subcontracts management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
  • Must be a leader.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior functional leadership experience
  • IPT Lead experience

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

  • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required.
  • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
  • Moderate to high levels of stress, associated with technical, schedule, and customer issues are to be expected with this position. Extended work hours and possible 2nd and 3rd shift assignments are likely to be encountered.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to sit down for long lengths of time.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to travel to 10% CONUS and International sites
  • Should be familiar with and be able to operate simulation training devices such as: full flight motion devices, maintenance training devices, entertainment devices and fixed base training devices.
  • Should be familiar with and able to support Engineering or Operations staff on any type and sub-component of training devices.
  • Must be willing to work in plant
