[email protected] Position AnnouncementUtah Valley University is seeking an experienced and innovative UVU Store Director to lead the operations of this essential campus resource. As the operational leader, you will oversee all aspects of retail management, including strategic planning, financial performance, and daily operations. This role is responsible for developing budgets, implementing creative revenue strategies, curating engaging retail offerings that align with UVU's mission, and managing the university's textbook and course materials systems.
The UVU Store Director will lead and mentor a diverse team, foster professional growth, and build strong relationships with vendors, partners, and campus departments. With expertise in retail operations, inventory management, marketing, and customer service excellence, the Director will play a key role in enhancing the UVU community experience. Summary of Responsibilities - Annual budget preparation and monitoring; financial forecasting and profitability analysis; cost control and purchasing strategy; professional association participation and industry benchmarking; strategic planning. Day-to-day retail operations oversight; inventory management and control; vendor coordination and contract negotiation; pricing strategies and merchandise planning; quality assurance and compliance monitoring.
- Direct supervision of management team; recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes; performance management and employee development; team meetings and staff communication.
- NetSuite system administration and maintenance; integration management across systems; data analysis and reporting; coordination with university technology specialists.
- Marketing strategy development and execution; web marketing team oversight; university partnership coordination; community, student, staff, and alumni engagement.
- Oversee the delivery of UVU's course material offerings, manage internal and external vendor relationships, report and communicate back to varied internal stakeholders, and incorporate their feedback to ensure UVU offers the best possible product and student + faculty experience possible.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline, plus three years of staff-level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties, totaling seven years.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of retail management principles, inventory control, and merchandising strategies.
- Knowledge of textbook and course materials industry, preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing a P&L, and understanding the KPIs and lead and lag measures required to run an efficient retail operation.
- Experience developing a budget, financial forecasts, managing cash flow, and financial reporting.
- The capability of managing procurement and vendor negotiations.
- Familiarity with NetSuite, point-of-sale systems, e-commerce, and database management.
