Position summary : Director, US Trade and Distribution

The Director, US Trade and Distribution is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Hansa Biopharma's US trade and distribution operations to support timely and compliant patient access to Hansa's products while keeping financial control.

This role will encompass the following:
  1. channel strategy and design;
  2. distribution network management;
  3. gross-to-net and channel economics support;
  4. chargeback administration;
  5. government and commercial contract operations;
  6. demand forecasting & inventory monitoring;
  7. data analytics and channel insights;
  8. compliance, including DSCSA, and risk management

The Director will work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Quality, Commercial Operations, and Market Access to support launch readiness and ongoing distribution operations.

This is a senior individual contributor role that is expected to provide functional leadership, vendor oversight, and cross-functional coordination across internal and external stakeholders.

This role reports to the VP Supply Chain and will be based at Hansa Biopharma's NYC office when opened. The role requires the individual to be within daily commuting distance of NYC and to work from the office on a hybrid schedule.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Supply Chain
  • Establishing appropriate distribution, supply and order-to-cash models, based on product, indication and Hansa Finance requirements
  • Managing distribution partners, optimizing gross-to-net and channel economics
  • Managing PO process and financial flows with distribution partners, including chargeback administration
  • Negotiating and managing supply contracts with government and commercial entities, monitoring contract KPIs and escalating any non-compliance
  • Liaising with appropriate internal functions to develop forecasting and planning requirements for drug product and finished product
  • Providing updated forecast information for both manufacturing and packaging demand planning, and to meet requirements and contractual obligations of distribution partners
  • Managing inventory levels throughout the supply chain
  • Monitoring inventory of finished product, and associated expiry dates, at distributors and hospitals and actioning in line with company policy
  • Collaborate with Commercial Operations to utilize channel and customer data to drive access strategy and commercial strategy
  • Liaising with the regulatory function to manage the smooth introduction of artwork and packaging component updates
  • Support the maintenance of Hansa's licenses required to facilitate distribution
  • Developing processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), in support of supply and distribution activities e.g. forecasting, purchasing, inventory management
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Finance, Regulatory, and Legal)
  • Partner with Market Access and Commercial colleagues to ensure trade and distribution strategy supports patient access, product availability, and launch/commercial objectives

Quality
  • Participate in inspection readiness efforts for internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with Company SOPs, protocols, and specifications
  • Participate in the investigation of non-compliance issues. Provide recommendations for corrective and remedial actions
  • Development of strong working relationships with distribution partners Lead vendor governance for 3PLs, specialty distributors, and other distribution partners, including business reviews, KPI monitoring, issue resolution, and performance improvement actions.
  • Ensure supply of product at the right quality, time and location
  • Support budget planning and financial oversight for trade and distribution activities, including coordination with Finance on order-to-cash processes, partner fees, chargebacks/credits as applicable, and distribution-related accruals or forecasts.
  • Assigned "Supply Chain responsible" role in Quality Management System and author of quality documents

Leadership
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in evaluating trade and distribution models, assessing distribution partner performance, recommending corrective actions, and escalating significant operational or compliance risks.
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly with regard to negotiating supply and purchasing contracts


Education and experience requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university
  • 10 years of US pharmaceutical supply and distribution experience including experience supporting a US product launch, preferably in hospital, transplant, nephrology or orphan
  • Vendor relationship management and governance experience, preferably with 3PLs/SDs and CMOs
  • 3PL budget management experience
  • Experience from a smaller international biotech company is preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams). ERP system experience essential. Strong working knowledge of other IT systems (e.g. Contract Management Systems, Sharepoint, Travel & Expenses systems)
  • Knowledge and experience with Tracelink and DSCSA legislation
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization including C-suite, CEO and Board of Directors
  • Ability to manage multiple, sometimes conflicting priorities, in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, approximately 20%

Estimated salary range for this role is $215,000 - $250,000 annually. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications, skills and experience of the individual applicant, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the geographic location of the individual.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives, as well as participation in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, company holidays and well-being benefits.
