Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with a subset of utilities, navigates large-load tariffs, and oversees interconnection agreements and power delivery timelines.
  • Be the primary interface with Economic Development teams with target utilities. Work with all other functions in partner utilities, including transmission & substation teams, Capacity Planning, Government Affairs, and executive management.
  • Actively manage the complete utility relationship for active data center development projects on RD sites.
  • Lead origination and structuring of long-term PPAs and supervise regulatory interface for large load projects.
  • Build a list of target utilities that meet criteria for successful partnership in RTOs/ISOs complimentary to RD data center development criteria
  • Help develop the plan to deliver data center development sites according to the Site Selection team's goals.
  • Advise on alternative power delivery strategies that accelerate time-to-power with utilities at targeted development sites.
  • Provide information and updates on about regulatory and governmental affairs news in the utility industry.

Qualifications

Required Experience
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Demands senior-level proficiency in utility negotiations, tariff strategy, PPA structuring, and executive-level relationship management with utility and RTO/ISO stakeholders
  • Extensive experience helps ensure credible leadership in managing high-stakes utility relationships and innovative power delivery strategies

Recommended backgrounds
  • Senior Utility Account Manager or Energy/Supply Contracts Director (with investor-owned utility, RTO/ISO, or large energy user)
  • Director of Energy Procurement/Origination at a Fortune 500 or hyperscale data center developer
  • Regulatory Affairs Director or PUC Liaison at major electric utility or competitive energy supplier
  • Business or Economic Development Executive in wholesale power markets, with deep tariff negotiation and executive utility contacts
