Full Job Description
Responsibilities
Manage relationships with a subset of utilities, navigates large-load tariffs, and oversees interconnection agreements and power delivery timelines.
Be the primary interface with Economic Development teams with target utilities. Work with all other functions in partner utilities, including transmission & substation teams, Capacity Planning, Government Affairs, and executive management.
Actively manage the complete utility relationship for active data center development projects on RD sites.
Lead origination and structuring of long-term PPAs and supervise regulatory interface for large load projects.
Build a list of target utilities that meet criteria for successful partnership in RTOs/ISOs complimentary to RD data center development criteria
Help develop the plan to deliver data center development sites according to the Site Selection team's goals.
Advise on alternative power delivery strategies that accelerate time-to-power with utilities at targeted development sites.
Provide information and updates on about regulatory and governmental affairs news in the utility industry.
Qualifications
Required Experience
10+ years of relevant experience
Demands senior-level proficiency in utility negotiations, tariff strategy, PPA structuring, and executive-level relationship management with utility and RTO/ISO stakeholders
Extensive experience helps ensure credible leadership in managing high-stakes utility relationships and innovative power delivery strategies
Recommended backgrounds
Senior Utility Account Manager or Energy/Supply Contracts Director (with investor-owned utility, RTO/ISO, or large energy user)
Director of Energy Procurement/Origination at a Fortune 500 or hyperscale data center developer
Regulatory Affairs Director or PUC Liaison at major electric utility or competitive energy supplier
Business or Economic Development Executive in wholesale power markets, with deep tariff negotiation and executive utility contacts
