Position DescriptionDirects, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions- In concert with HSDM administrative leadership teams, design and maintain the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement for the Hunt SDM. Ensure appropriate implementation, ongoing effectiveness and oversight while providing expertise and guidance to address social drivers of health through education and engagement.
- Effectively disseminate information about strategic initiatives, best practices, and innovation through formal plans of communication news letter. Oversee and/or actively participate in meetings with accountable Hunt SDM and community leaders.
- Partner with faculty and community sites to support and promote student activities. Develop, track and distribute metrics for desired outcomes.
- Enlist and collaborate with members of the community and public including but not limited to: businesses, government agencies, non-profits, and policy makers to ensure Hunt SDM's mission and goals are met.
- Serve as a catalyst for driving improved health outcomes through and with, the support of public health entities, health advocates and social engagement organizations/representatives.
- Maintain a current and thorough understanding of El Paso and the surrounding communities health initiatives, projects and goals. Serve as an active participant in related local activities and organization on behalf of Hunt SDM.
- Initiate, manage and execute recommended changes to the Hunt SDM innovative strategic plan to accomplish goals/objectives while addressing health disparities and the training of students to value community alliances/partnerships. Communicate with Hunt SDM administrative leaders to assure changes align with school specific and institutional mission(s), and implement approved changes.
- Participate in the planning and coordination of Hunt SDM fiscal activities for community outreach and engagement related to the annual budget, allocation of resources, and equipment and supply purchasing.
- In conjunction with Hunt SDM administrative leadership and TTUHSC El Paso institutional partners, coordinate the development of marketing and/or communication plans which recommend new programming, partnerships, scholarship, research and learning opportunities.
- Respond to concerns related to activities/services. Investigate and resolve complaints in concert with Hunt SDM administrative leadership.
- Manage and audit the design, development and success of the Hunt SDM Office of Community Outreach and Engagement using specified data analytics. Distribute, present and/or communicate outcomes at the direction of the Hunt SDM Dean or designee.
- Required to travel within El Paso, the Borderland, Texas and New Mexico approximately 50-75%.
- Remain current with all licensure, certifications, and mandatory compliance and training requirements for this position.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSCEP OPs, etc.).
- Personally demonstrate, display and act in accordance with TTUHSC EP's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in academic related field or health sciences administration
- Demonstrated competence in academic medical/health sciences center environment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and relationship of non-governmental groups in the El Paso region, their boards of directors, CEO's and other offices. Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate effectively with dentist, staff, patients/families and other internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, build and sustain positive and effective working relationships across all organizational levels.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in a related area plus five years of progressively responsible management experience
- OR a combination of education and/or years of experience in management to equal a minimum of 9 years.
