Full Job Description
DOXA is seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Director of Technical Accounting to join our growing finance organization. This role will serve as a key technical accounting resource within the controllership function, with primary responsibility for researching complex accounting matters, developing accounting policies, and supporting financial reporting. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Company's continued growth through acquisitions, including leading purchase accounting under ASC 805, evaluating revenue recognition under ASC 606, and advising on technical accounting implications of transactions. This is a highly visible, hands-on role ideal for a candidate with a strong public accounting foundation who is looking to take ownership of technical accounting in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: Technical Accounting & Policy • Research, evaluate, and document complex accounting issues under U.S. GAAP, with a focus on ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 805 (Business Combinations). • Prepare high-quality technical accounting memos and position papers for management and external auditors. • Develop and maintain a robust set of accounting policies and internal guidance aligned with U.S. GAAP and statutory requirements. • Monitor new and emerging accounting pronouncements and assess their impact on the company's financials and operations. M&A & Transaction Support (Technical Focus) • Lead purchase accounting analyses for acquisitions, including coordination with third-party valuation specialists • Provide technical accounting guidance on transaction structures and key accounting considerations • Support accounting diligence efforts and review of transaction-related agreements • Partner with internal teams to ensure alignment on accounting treatment of acquired businesses, while dedicated teams support operational finance integration Financial Reporting • Support the preparation and review of GAAP financial statements and disclosures • Assist in the preparation of key components such as the statement of cash flows and technical disclosures • Analyze and document technical accounting conclusions impacting financial reporting • Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors on complex accounting matters Cross-Functional Partnership • Collaborate with Finance, FP&A, Legal, and operational teams to ensure appropriate accounting treatment • Translate complex accounting concepts into practical guidance for stakeholders • Support ongoing efforts to improve consistency and scalability of accounting processes Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field) • 7+ years of relevant experience (public accounting strongly preferred) • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and ASC 805 (Business Combinations) • Strong experience preparing technical accounting memos and interfacing with auditors • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred: • CPA certification (strongly preferred) • Experience in the insurance industry (MGA, brokerage, or underwriting) • Familiarity with IFRS • Experience supporting financial statement preparation and disclosures Leveling Flexibility: Candidates with 5-6 years of experience may be considered at the Manager level, based on experience and demonstrated technical capabilities. Compensation: The expected base salary range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000 + discretionary bonus Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as education, experience, skill set, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
