This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

The Director, Supplier Quality is a leader who believes strong partnerships with operations, supply chain and program teams is a requirement to be a world class manufacturing company. In this role, you will lead and direct Blue's supplier quality organization, establishing strategies and processes to ensure suppliers meet quality, reliability, on time delivery and compliance requirements in support of program and production objectives. Serves as a key interface between supply chain, engineering, and operations to drive continuous improvement across the supplier base. Responsible for strategic development of the supplier quality organization in alignment with Blue Origin's growing portfolio of products and businesses. We are looking for an individual that can implement innovative quality management system solutions, supporting accelerated manufacturing production, innovative technology and research activities, as well as efficient, predictable production capable solutions that will support sub-orbital & orbital manufacturing & launch.

This position will fall under the Sr. Director of Quality Assurance and directly impact the history of space exploration. It will require dedication and detailed attention towards excelling safe and reusable space flight.

This role is part of the Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance team, which focuses on monitoring and assessing processes that guide Blue Origin design, manufacture, and operations, ensuring system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes serve the Blue Origin Mission and Vision.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies aligned with company goals and program requirements
  • Lead a team of two Senior Managers and multiple Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) responsible for supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring
  • Establish and maintain supplier qualification and approval processes, including first article inspections (FAI) and production part approval processes (PPAP)
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) processes for supplier-related nonconformances
  • Manage supplier scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve supplier quality performance
  • Partner with Procurement and Engineering to assess and mitigate supply chain risk
  • Support supplier development initiatives to build long-term supplier capability and capacity
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP)
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by qualifying suppliers for new materials, components, and processes
  • Represent Supplier Quality in design reviews, program reviews, and executive-level briefings

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading supplier audits and qualification activities
  • Proficiency with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, APQP, SPC, and MSA
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent quality management system standards


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering, Quality, or a related technical field
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing industries
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE)
  • Experience supporting hardware development from design through production
  • Familiarity with government/FAR/DFARS procurement quality requirements


Special Mentions
  • Relocation provided - must reside full time in one of our mfg sites located in either Kent, Washington, Huntsville, Al or Cape Canaveral, FL
  • Travel expected up to 50% of the time


Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $203,165.00 - $284,430.30
