The Department of Strategy & Transformation have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director, Strategy & Transformation to work on-site in Miami.

CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Strategy & Transformation plays a crucial role in driving growth and expanding the business of UHealth by leading efforts to define the future of UM/UHealth. The Director, Strategy & Transformation leads strategic and business development initiatives to enhance market presence, forge strategic partnerships, improve operations, and identify new opportunities. The incumbent identifies areas of opportunity, leads cross functional teams, manages and influences stakeholders, develops senior-level communications. The Director, Strategy & Transformation independently shapes initiatives, drives progress, directs and develops junior team members, and ensures efforts are driving organizational value and proactively identifies and carries out next steps, confirming alignment with strategy & transformation (S&T) leadership along the way.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Strategy & Transformation:
  • Executes strategic planning efforts with limited guidance from leaders. Partners with senior leaders to architect initiatives aimed at achieving UHealth objectives. Supports ongoing enterprise initiatives.
  • Supports business development activities:
    A: Drives operational execution and day-to-day management of initiatives
    B: Conducts market research and competitive analysis
    C: Assists in evaluating the feasibility and profitability of potential partnerships and initiatives
    D: Coordinates with partners to develop innovative solutions and drive revenue growth
    E: Supports negotiations and contract discussions under the guidance of the business development
  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to assure strategies are well-aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Supports development of key project management artifacts (e.g., charters, status reports, project plan and timelines). Considers broader team deadlines and troubleshoot potential bottlenecks. Develops effective executive status updates and identify and manage critical risks and issues. Contributes to risk mitigations to support project success.
  • Analyzes financial data, market trends, and business metrics to evaluate the success of strategic and business development initiatives. Prepares reports and presentations for senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations for future growth.
  • Provides guidance, mentorship, and leadership to the S&T junior team; fosters a collaborative and high-performing culture, ensuring the team's alignment with organizational goals; review work product and provide feedback/coaching; manages and fosters development of junior team members across multiple work streams/projects; contributes to teams's culture and norms and support colleagues.
  • Demonstrates high emotional intelligence with deftness in navigating complex organizations with multiple stakeholders; builds trust and confidence among senior leaders and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Communicates at a polished leadership level, both verbal and written.
  • Contributes to team's work and culture, supports colleagues, builds collective S&T capabilities and plays a vocal part in team meetings.


Administration & Governance:
  • Coordinates bi-weekly meetings for the President & CEO and executive leadership team, including agenda development, room setup, and documentation of outcomes.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to gather input and prioritize agenda topics that support organizational goals.
  • Assists in the development of presentations and supporting materials for board and executive meetings, ensuring clarity and relevance.
  • Reviews and edits materials for accuracy and completeness to support informed discussions. Provides regular updates to leadership on the status of meeting materials and timelines. Maintains organized and secure documentation for all board-related materials, applying best practices in document management.
  • Oversees the board communication platform, ensuring timely and accurate uploading of materials and ease of access for board members.
  • Coordinates logistics for board meetings in partnership with the board office and technology teams, ensuring all systems are functional and presentation materials are optimized.
  • Supports communication and coordination efforts to ensure smooth execution of board-related activities.
  • Manages day-of meeting operations, including presentation support, distribution of materials, and note-taking for follow-up tracking.
  • Tracks and documents follow-up actions from meetings, ensuring accountability and timely updates to leadership.
  • Supports integration of board discussions with ongoing projects and initiatives to maintain strategic alignment.
  • Assists in preparing presentation content for University governance forums such as Faculty Senate and Student Organizations.
  • Contributes to process improvement efforts related to board and governance operations.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
