The Role

The Director Strategy & Planning is responsible for planning and executing growth initiatives for the Providence Alaska Service Area. The role will focus on strategic planning for service lines and developing business cases to grow or expand facilities, clinical programs, service lines, and physician practices. The Director will also provide support to business development (e.g., partnerships, new investments, other external relationships), strategic project leadership, and resources to bolster planning and decision-making efforts.

Additionally, this role will assist in service line strategic projects that intersect with other service areas within Providence Alaska, ensuring cohesive and integrated strategic efforts across the Division and System.

What You'll Do

Strategic Planning
  • Develop strategies and tactics, including project plans, for the service area to achieve growth and other key pillar goals.
  • Create business cases, including presentations and analytics, to support key initiatives.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and support to service area leaders and teams in their assessment of potential strategic initiatives and business planning activities.
  • Collaborate with physician leaders, department leaders, and community partners to establish and meet service line goals.
  • Identify critical gaps or new, innovative offerings to ensure care and services offered position service lines for future success.

Strategic Research and Analysis
  • Maintain knowledge of healthcare market trends and stay abreast of the evolving healthcare landscape.
  • Conduct market research and assessment of national, regional, and local trends.
  • Lead identification and implementation of strategy and planning standards for the service area.
  • Identify internal and external resources to obtain strategic research and knowledge resources.

Business Development
  • Research, organize, and prepare responses to requests for business development-related information from internal and external customers.
  • Support partnership and joint venture planning, development, and coordination.
  • Maintain and role model high levels of confidentiality related to strategic conversations and business plans.

Regional / Divisional Support
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance of Providence / Providence Swedish by coordinating efforts across service area boundaries.


What You'll Bring

Education & Credentials
  • Master's Degree in Health Administration, MBA, or Master's in a related field.

Experience & Expertise
  • 5 years of general healthcare experience, including 3 years in a leadership capacity related to healthcare delivery.
  • 10 or more years of healthcare experience or service line management (preferred).

The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
