Job DescriptionWHAT IS THIS OPPORTUNITY?The Strategic Execution team is looking for a Director, Strategic Execution to join the team. You will be accountable to ensure that the team provides efficient and timely delivery of large-scale, complex enterprise programs and projects while mitigating operational and financial risks. Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Execution, this role will lead the planning and execution of complex, enterprise-wide programs and projects including oversight of project controls and adherence to enterprise framework requirements. You will partner closely with program owners and stakeholders across RBC, ensuring alignment to business priorities while ensuring adherence to program governance, building stakeholder engagement and mitigating risk. You will also partner with group senior leadership on team development responsibilities, supporting the growth of the Strategic Execution team. This role requires a dynamic individual with a high degree of program and project management expertise who can manage cross-functional workflows, support strategic objectives and ensure programs and projects are delivered within the approved scope, schedule and budget while minimizing disruption to business partners and mitigating risks.
As part of the Process Risk Centre of Excellence and Strategic Execution group under the RBC Chief Controls office, the Strategic Execution team has a mandate to develop and implement a proactive, standardized, scalable program and project management discipline that drives consistency in delivery of strategic objectives, while ensuring execution of RBC enterprise (Board, CoE and Group Executive) and cross-functional business programs and projects. Working within a high-performance area of the bank, the team provides opportunities for skill development, career advancement, and the chance to work on the bank's most ambitious initiatives.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?- Provide program management expertise and direction to support program planning and execution. This includes but is not limited to strategic planning, stakeholder management, identification of critical activities and alignment with any communication and change management plans.
- Influence and align project outcomes to optimize the benefits and reduce the risks throughout the project.
- Accountable for the delivery of all end-to-end project plan activities.
- Manage all project controls on any given project or program to ensure effective governance including project documentation.
- Lead integration of project workstreams, driving alignment across the project team.
- Develop and manage the detailed schedule, identify early warning indicators, identify potential risks and issues, and develop mitigation strategies in consultation with team senior leadership.
- Establish and monitor project milestones and provide timely project executive summaries, as well as appropriate internal management reporting, metrics, and key information.
- Prepare project material and, as required, support internal project approval requirements.
- Lead development of integrated program delivery strategies, roadmaps, controls and processes aligning with Strategic Execution senior leadership goals.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? Must-have:- University Degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of global program management experience with at least 3 years in a senior capacity and experience with global or large-scale program portfolios
- Proficient in project management software (ProjectPlace, JIRA or similar)
- Experience with Iterative Waterfall, Agile, Kanban delivery methodologies
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills including executive interaction and communications
- Strong strategic and financial business acumen and strong risk and cost control mindset
- Ability to leverage the value in internal teams to develop better solutions and achieve a cross-functional mindset.
- Ability to accept and successfully execute change in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment while supporting project team through the process and keep them focused on business priorities.
- Demonstrated experience handling and resolving conflicts across senior management internal partners and other colleagues.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and consultation skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-have:- PMP certification or equivalent (preferred)
- Change Management designation or significant experience with change management processes
