About the role
At Lane Bryant, Finance is a critical partner in shaping business decisions that improve store performance, strengthen profitability, and support an engaging customer experience. The Director of Stores Finance will lead financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision support for the Stores Division, serving as a key thought partner to the VP of Stores, Retail Operations, Field Leadership, and senior Finance leadership. This role will connect the store strategy to the financial plan, translate performance trends into actionable insights, and influence decisions that advance Lane Bryant’s strategic objectives through a disciplined financial lens. Reporting to the AVP of Finance, with a strong dotted-line partnership to the VP of Stores, this leader will oversee a team of three finance professionals and be accountable for the full Stores Finance agenda, including close support, forecasting, budgeting, performance analytics, business reviews, and field financial education.
The impact you can have
- Strategic Finance Leadership: Serve as the primary finance partner to the VP of Stores and Retail Operations leadership, influencing strategic priorities, investment decisions, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Financial Planning & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting, in-year forecasting, labor planning, expense management, and long-range financial planning for the Stores organization.
- Performance Insights: Analyze store sales, traffic, conversion, productivity, labor, margin, shrink, appeasements, and controllable expense trends to identify risks, opportunities, and actionable business recommendations.
- Executive Reporting: Prepare clear, concise financial recaps, business reviews, and leadership materials that connect financial results to operational drivers and strategic priorities.
- Business Influence & Field Enablement: Partner with Operations and Field leaders to improve financial acumen, strengthen KPI understanding, and support decisions that drive profitable store performance.
- Process Improvement: Streamline reporting, planning, and analytical processes by leveraging systems, tools, and technology to reduce manual work and improve speed, accuracy, and insight quality.
- AI-Enabled Transformation: Identify, implement, and scale practical AI-enabled solutions that elevate finance workstreams, automate routine analysis, improve forecast accuracy, and unlock faster, higher-quality business insights.
- Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a team of finance professionals, setting clear priorities, building analytical capability, and fostering a high-performance, business-oriented finance culture.
You’ll bring to the role
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive FP&A, retail finance, store operations finance, or related financial leadership experience required.
- Strong understanding of retail operations, store productivity, labor planning, expense management, and key financial and operational KPIs.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, challenge assumptions constructively, and translate financial insights into strategic business actions.
- Executive-level communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and present clear recommendations to Finance, Operations, and Field leadership.
- Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive accountability in a fast-paced, evolving business environment.
- Advanced Excel, financial modeling, business analytics, and ERP/general ledger experience required; experience improving reporting automation or planning processes preferred.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing finance talent, with a focus on building business partnership, analytical rigor, and ownership.
