This role owns labor forecasting, workforce planning, scheduling strategy, and payroll optimization—translating business drivers into highly accurate, precise, and actionable labor decisions. As a key partner to Executive Store Leadership and Finance, the Director ensures labor is dynamically aligned to demand, balancing productivity, service, and financial performance.

The Director oversees a $175M annual payroll investment and serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on labor strategy, performance, and trade-offs—driving measurable improvements in store productivity, execution, and 4-wall profit performance.

What You'll Do:

Labor Strategy & Business Impact

  • Lead workforce management strategy across the entire North America retail fleet

  • Establish labor frameworks that balance sales, service, productivity, and 4-wall profitability

  • Drive improvements in conversion, service coverage, labor efficiency, and store-level profit outcomes

Forecasting & Financial Management

  • Own end-to-end labor forecasting aligned to sales, traffic, and workload drivers, with a focus on forecast accuracy and decision precision

  • Lead payroll planning, budgeting, reforecasting, and variance analysis

  • Translate business trends into in-period labor decisions, optimizing spend against performance

  • Partner with Finance to evaluate labor investment trade-offs and impact to store-level profitability

Analytics & Execution

  • Develop driver-based labor models linking demand, workload, and customer behavior to staffing decisions

  • Deliver timely, accurate insights that improve decision quality at both leadership and field levels

  • Partner with IT to enhance systems and enable scalable, data-driven decision-making across the fleet

  • Support testing, validation, rollout, and ongoing business ownership of WFM tools, ensuring the department has clear subject-matter expertise on functionality, configuration, and operational use

Field Impact & Leadership

  • Partner cross-functionally to align labor strategies with business priorities

  • Ensure strategies translate into measurable improvements in store productivity, conversion, service execution, and profitability

  • Influence field leadership to drive disciplined, high-quality labor execution

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead test-and-learn initiatives to improve labor models, forecasting accuracy, scheduling approaches, and tools

  • Establish disciplined testing routines for new labor models, scheduling processes, and system enhancements before broader field deployment

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Finance, Economics, Analytics, Engineering, or related field preferred)

  • 10+ years of experience in workforce management, labor optimization, finance, or analytics, with demonstrated experience leading teams and business-critical initiatives

  • Experience in a scaled, multi-unit, consumer-facing environment (retail, QSR, or omnichannel)

  • Proven success optimizing labor strategies across large store fleets (250+ locations preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to drive accurate forecasting, data-driven decision-making, and measurable financial outcomes

  • Experience partnering on workforce management system testing, implementation, optimization, or tool ownership preferred

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with ability to translate data into business decisions

  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership

  • Leads a team of 3 across workforce planning, analytics, and systems

  • Partners across Store Operations, Finance, HR, and IT

  • Responsible for optimizing the largest controllable expense on the store P&L and improving 4-wall profit performance
