Full Job Description
Labcorp is seeking a hybrid Director, Sourcing Center of Excellence (COE), to join our team in Burlington, or Durham, North Carolina.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a schedule, with standard business hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your time zone. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week in Burlington or Durham, NC (Wednesdays are mandatory) supporting both collaboration and flexibility

Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

The Director, Sourcing COE leads global sourcing strategy, supplier management, and procurement excellence initiatives that drive cost savings, operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and supplier performance. This role partners with business leaders to develop and execute sourcing strategies, lead complex supplier negotiations, leverage market insights and procurement technologies, and build a high-performing sourcing organization through standardization, continuous improvement, and stakeholder collaboration.

  • Leads, coaches, and develops a high-performing sourcing team, fostering accountability, engagement, and continuous growth.
  • Drives supplier performance, strategic partnerships, and executive-level supplier relationships.
  • Delivers cost savings, spend optimization, supplier innovation, and operational improvements across key categories.
  • Leads complex supplier negotiations and contract strategies to optimize pricing, service levels, and business outcomes.
  • Develops and executes supplier performance, risk management, and business continuity programs.
  • Partners with business leaders to understand requirements and translates them into effective sourcing strategies.
  • Leverages market intelligence, spend analytics, and industry trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risk.
  • Champions the use of procurement technologies, analytics, and sourcing tools to improve efficiency and decision-making.
  • Supports sourcing transformations, supplier transitions, and change management initiatives.
  • Leads business case development, financial analysis, and executive communications that support strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Builds strong stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment on sourcing priorities, performance, and outcomes.
  • Drives procurement standardization, governance, and operational excellence across the sourcing organization.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in global sourcing, procurement, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, or category management.
  • 3+ years of direct people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex supplier negotiations and managing strategic supplier relationships across multiple categories, regions, or business functions.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver measurable cost savings, supplier performance improvements, risk mitigation, and business value.
  • 3+ years of experience working within global supply chains and managing sourcing, supplier, or procurement activities across multiple regions and international markets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contract management, supplier governance, and procurement best practices.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering executive-level verbal, written, and presentation communications while managing relationships with cross-functional stakeholders, suppliers, and senior leadership.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in global sourcing, procurement, or supply chain leadership roles within a multinational organization. Managing global category portfolios with significant annual spend responsibility.
  • Professional certification(s) such as CPSM, CIPS, APICS/ASCM, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience supporting highly regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, or biotechnology.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing contract lifecycle management tools (e.g., iCertis) and enterprise procurement systems such as SAP, Coupa, Ariba, or Oracle.
  • 3+ years of experience leading global supplier harmonization, standardization, and pricing initiatives across multiple business units or regions.
  • Demonstrated success implementing sourcing transformation, procurement excellence, or supplier performance improvement programs.
  • Exposure to advanced spend analytics, business case development, and financial modeling methodologies.


Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 11+ years of progressive experience leading sourcing, procurement, category management, supplier management, contract negotiations, cost savings initiatives, supply risk mitigation, and global supply chain operations in a complex, matrixed organization, including 3+ years of direct people leadership experience, may be considered.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams while driving engagement, accountability, and organizational change.
  • Advanced expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and complex contract negotiations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and cross-functional partnership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Deep understanding of global supply chain operations, supplier risk management, business continuity planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience developing business cases, analyzing data, and leveraging market intelligence to drive sourcing decisions.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, e-sourcing platforms, spend analytics tools, and contract lifecycle management solutions.
  • Demonstrated success leveraging technology, standardizing processes, and implementing sourcing best practices to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across global regions, time zones, and diverse cultural environments within a matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and competing business demands.
