Dematic is building a next-generation Solutioning Suite to help our project teams implement end to end design, engineering, and management of customer-specific solutions with speed, quality, and confidence. We are seeking a Director, Solutioning Software Platform Development to be accountable for building and leading a high-performing multidisciplinary organization that designs, develops, deploys, and sustains modern software tools and associated data structures that support the broader solutioning ecosystem. This role sets the technical and operating direction for software developers, UX developers and designers, tools application developers, enterprise data architecture, ontology development, and deployment/testing capabilities.

Operating as the leadership anchor for the tools team, the role promotes modern software development practices, strong product and engineering discipline, and the practical application of AI to improve development velocity, quality, and user outcomes. This leader partners across program leadership, application leads, business stakeholders, and technical experts to translate priorities into scalable platforms, usable applications, governed data foundations, and reliable release and deployment processes.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Critical Behaviors and Capabilities:

  • Innovation mindset with a bias toward improving how work gets done, identifying opportunities to modernize processes, and advancing digital tool capabilities that create measurable business value

  • Creative problem solving with the ability to navigate ambiguity, break down complex challenges, and develop practical, scalable solutions across technical and business constraints

  • Strong ability to work across a cross-functional organization, build alignment among diverse stakeholders, and influence decisions without relying solely on direct authority

  • Proven track record of change leadership, including guiding teams through new ways of working, driving adoption, and sustaining momentum through transformation

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary tools organization spanning software developers, UX developers and designers, tools application developers, enterprise data architecture, data ontology resources, and deployment/testing roles.

  • Define and execute the tools team operating model, engineering standards, and delivery practices needed to build scalable, secure, maintainable, and user-centered applications and data capabilities.

  • Promote modern software development practices including agile planning, code quality disciplines, automation, testing, DevOps-oriented release practices, and disciplined lifecycle management.

  • Identify and incorporate AI capabilities where appropriate to improve productivity, user experience, engineering effectiveness, and the overall value of the tools portfolio.

  • Partner with program leads, application leaders, business stakeholders, and technical experts to translate strategic priorities into roadmaps, staffing plans, delivery milestones, and measurable outcomes.

  • Establish strong collaboration between software engineering, UX, application development, data architecture, and deployment/testing functions so solutions are integrated, usable, and production-ready.

  • Build a high-performing team culture through coaching, talent development, role clarity, hiring support, performance expectations, and continuous improvement in how the team works together.

  • Provide transparent status, risk, resource, and capability updates to leadership, while proactively removing blockers and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, governance, security, and business priorities.

Required Competencies, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary software or digital product teams, including engineering, UX, application development, and deployment-oriented functions

  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including agile delivery, architecture collaboration, testing, release management, and continuous improvement

  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams through coaching, talent development, organizational design, and effective leadership in a matrix environment

  • Experience working across software, data, and user experience disciplines, with an appreciation for enterprise data architecture, semantic/ontology concepts, and production deployment considerations

  • Ability to identify and apply AI opportunities responsibly and pragmatically to improve team productivity, product capabilities, and user outcomes

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills, including the ability to align technical direction with business priorities and enterprise constraints
