What is the opportunity?

Are you an experienced technical or business leader with excellent stakeholder management and people leadership skills? Do you have solid exposure to Capital Markets products and workflows? Do you thrive in roles that balance stakeholder management, project governance, people leadership, and technical oversight?

At RBC Capital Markets, we are seeking a talented leader to lead our Pre-Trade Compliance technology team. The team is responsible for "Fortress," an application that performs a broad set of pre-trade checks across a range of asset classes.

What will you do?
  • Lead a cross-functional application team of 15 people (distributed across Canada, the US, and India)
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across the business, functions, and technology to understand requirements and drive alignment
  • Own and evolve the Capital Markets Pre-Trade Compliance technology strategy in collaboration with technical architects
  • Lead and deliver complex projects to further develop the internal product offering
  • Implement strong governance processes to drive successful project delivery and manage project financials
  • Chair steering committees to govern project execution, and actively manage risks and issues
  • Continuously refine QA processes to maximize quality
  • Actively manage vendor relationships
  • Contribute to an exceptional employee experience through strong people leadership practices that amplify our Collective Ambition and exemplify the Leadership Model to inspire, support, and empower employees to achieve their potential
  • This role provides a balance between stakeholder management (30%), project governance (25%), people/team management (30%), and technical oversight (15%)


What do you need to succeed?

Must haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Exposure to Capital Markets products, asset classes (Derivatives, Credit, Rates, FX, Equities, Commodities), and core workflows (orders, RFQs, execution, settlement) sufficient to understand business requirements and technical implications
  • Strong project and program management experience, including steering complex initiatives with multiple workstreams
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders, business leaders, and technical teams
  • 6+ years of technology experience with demonstrated progression into leadership roles
  • 5+ years leading and developing high-performing teams in technology or product environments, with proven success building capability and retaining talent
  • Proactive mindset, self-motivated individual with a "can-do" attitude, capable of leading independently and managing ambiguity
  • Hardworking, dedicated, detail-oriented, focused on quality and a team player, with effective verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and prioritize effectively


Nice to haves:
  • Direct Capital Markets industry experience in securities and/or derivatives
  • Experience in pre-trade compliance controls (e.g., regulatory reporting, margin requirements, trading obligations, KYC)
  • Technical background in Java environments or full-stack development
  • Experience with financial infrastructure platforms (messaging, caching, data platforms)
  • Background in vendor management or third-party integration oversight
