Job Summary

Oldcastle Infrastructure (OI), as part of CRH's Infrastructure Products Group (IPG), is a global manufacturing leader of utility infrastructure products. Our goal is to be the most efficient producer of engineered systems and our customers' strategic partner of choice. A crucial part of OI's journey is the investment in new digital tools including a new ERP. With a modern, common platform, OI will unlock the benefits of its scale, deliver a better customer experience, and build a foundation for continuous process improvement.

The Director of the Technical Center of Excellence leads a team of SAP functional resources across all platform modules, owning the architecture, design, system governance, functional systems blueprint, and delivery of key end-to-end processes and platforms within our SAP ecosystem. The role manages functional technology leaders for the following process value streams: Order-to-Cash (OTC), Plan-to-Produce (PTP), Requisition-to-Pay (RTP), and Post-to-Close (PTC). It also manages the systems architects across core applications: SAP SD, LE, PP, MM, PS, FI, and CO, ensuring cohesive architecture, technical specification design and standardization.

Job Location

  • This role will work out of our office in Sandy Springs, GA with a hybrid schedule.

Job Responsibilities

SAP Functional Platform Strategy and Governance
  • Own the SAP functional platform strategy, roadmap, and governance model.
  • Serve as the functional platform owner for SAP, ensuring solution decisions support enterprise process consistency, scalable template design, clean core principles, integration integrity, and business value realization.
  • Partner with Business Process leaders to translate requirements into measurable transformation objectives across Order to Cash (OTC), Plan to Produce (PTP), Requisition to Pay (RTP), and Post to Close (PTC).
  • Ensure SAP functional design and change decisions consider process controls, auditability, data integrity, security, segregation of duties, compliance requirements, and financial/operational risk.
  • Own functional intake, prioritization, and release planning for the Center of Excellence to balance business enhancements, defect remediation, compliance needs, platform stability, and delivery capacity.

SAP COE Architecture and QA Leadership
  • Lead the SAP COE architect team and SAP QA/testing team, providing direction, standards, capacity planning, performance management, and delivery accountability.
  • Manage functional architects and analysts responsible for High-Level Design (HLD), Functional Specification Documentation (FSD), configuration standards, process blueprints, and solution documentation aligned to the CRH IPG template.
  • Define and enforce SAP architecture governance, including fit/gap analysis, design authority, cross-process tradeoff resolution, standardization, integration alignment, security considerations, and compliance with SAP Activate methodology.
  • Own functional integration governance across SAP processes and connected systems, ensuring upstream and downstream impacts are understood, documented, tested, and aligned before design or release decisions are approved.
  • Own the SAP QA strategy, including test planning, regression testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect triage, quality metrics, release readiness criteria, and continuous improvement of testing practices.

Implementation Delivery and Business Readiness
  • Manage delivery of the remaining SAP deployment waves from a functional implementation perspective, ensuring readiness across design completion, build validation, testing execution, data and integration dependencies, cutover support, and hypercare readiness.
  • Partner with PMO, Business Process, OCM, Data, Optimization, Process Excellence, technical delivery, and support teams to drive integrated planning, milestone execution, risk mitigation, and successful deployment outcomes.
  • Provide executive-level visibility to delivery health, quality trends, readiness risks, functional decision points, issue resolution needs, and recommended actions.
  • Ensure functional documentation, training inputs, process flows, test scripts, and knowledge transfer materials are complete, accurate, and transitioned appropriately to OCM, business process, and support teams.
  • Govern SI and vendor delivery across functional design, build validation, testing, deployment readiness, defect resolution, and hypercare execution to ensure partner work is aligned to CRH standards, timelines, and quality expectations.

Long-Term SAP Operations and Continuous Improvement
  • Transition SAP functional ownership from project delivery into a mature operating model, including application support handoff, release management, governance forums, architecture review boards, QA checkpoints, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Partner with application support and managed service providers to monitor ticket trends, root causes, service levels, recurring defects, enhancement demand, and platform stability opportunities.
  • Develop SAP functional talent and leadership capability across architects, functional leads, analysts, and QA resources through coaching, role clarity, standards, performance management, and succession planning.

  • 7+ years of managing COE and/or ERP Digital Transformation Delivery teams
