About the roleThe Director, Revenue reports to the Vice President, Controller and is responsible for playing a key role in the Company's first product commercial launch and continues its transition to a commercial stage organization. This role will serve as a hands-on subject matter expert responsible for ensuring the accuracy, transparency and scalability of accounting for revenue recognition inclusive of gross-to-net (GTN), GTN forecasting, and related month end close procedures. The ideal candidate will bring significant expertise in pharmaceutical revenue and GTN accounting, forecasting, and related financial reporting, along with strong technical accounting judgment and proven experience launching a commercial product. This individual will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and help build scalable processes to support the company's commercial growth.
Essential Functions- Prepare and analyze monthly product revenue and gross-to-net close activities, including the calculation, recording, and monitoring of gross-to-net accruals and related reserve balances for variable consideration.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules for revenue inclusive of GTN and accounts receivable.
- Prepare ASC 606 Memo inclusive of GTN items and obtain alignment from external and internal auditors.
- Create and maintain internal controls for revenue and accounts receivable inclusive of supporting the Director, SOX Compliance in creating narratives and flowcharts.
- Partner with external GTN modeling vendor to maintain and improve the Company's forecasting models.
- Cross functionally partner with FP&A to support the Company's budgeting, forecasting and long range planning.
- Partner with Commercial team, Distribution and Market Access to develop and maintain GTN assumptions and forecasts, track overall performance and evaluate pricing and contracting strategies.
- Partner with the Commercial analytics team to support demand planning, patient and market data into GTN forecasts.
- Support the Director, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting in populating amounts and preparing supporting schedules for 10-Q and 10-K filings.
- Collaborate with the Government Pricing team and review government pricing calculations and supporting accuracy and compliance across Government channels.
- Focus on automation to reduce manual processes across revenue accounting inclusive of GTN ensuring compliance with company policies, internal controls, audit requirements and US GAAP.
- Collaborate closely with VP, Controller, VP FP&A, AVP of BD and CFO on strategic initiatives and cross functional projects.
- Serve as the Company's subject matter expert for global revenue and reporting.
- Support the Company's 606 Analysis for it's CDMO.
Qualifications- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or MBA Preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a similar role within Big 4 public accounting, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
- Expertise in ASC 606 Revenue Recogntion inclusive of GTN accounting.
- Experience building processes and internal controls within SOX, SEC Reporting and US GAAP.
- Continuous improvement mindset; constantly seeking ways to drive innovation and efficiencies.
- Excellent communication and cross functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility across commercial, market access, Government Pricing and executive team.
- Experience launching a commercial product preferred.
