The National Pork Board (NPB) is seeking a strategic
Director of Retail Marketing to lead retail demand generation initiatives that increase the volume and value of U.S. pork across the retail marketplace. This role develops and executes national retail marketing strategies, builds partnerships across the retail meat supply chain, and collaborates with internal teams to deliver measurable results for America's pork producers.
Key Responsibilities- Lead national retail marketing initiatives aligned with NPB's strategic priorities.
- Identify growth opportunities across supermarkets, mass, club, specialty, and other retail channels.
- Develop go-to-market strategies that increase pork volume, value, and consumer demand.
- Build relationships with retail customers, manufacturers, processors, distributors, consultants, and industry associations.
- Translate consumer insights and market trends into actionable marketing strategies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and execute integrated demand generation programs.
- Develop business plans, manage budgets, and measure ROI.
- Represent NPB at customer meetings, conferences, and industry events.
- Lead and develop assigned team members and cross-functional project teams.
- Monitor marketplace trends and competitive proteins to identify opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Agricultural Business, Communications, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8-10 years of leadership experience in retail marketing, retail sales, channel marketing, business development, or related food industry roles.
- Proven success developing go-to-market strategies and leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation, and strategic planning skills.
- Experience managing budgets, evaluating ROI, and influencing stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce or other CRM systems, and presentation tools.
- Knowledge of the pork industry or retail food supply chain is preferred.
National Pork Board's home office is in Clive, Iowa. Ability to work in the office on a hybrid (3 days/week) schedule is required. Relocation assistance may be offered.
Approximately 60-75% travel required. Application deadline is July 31st however, we may speak to qualified candidates prior to the close date.
Full-time starting salary range is $160K-$180K. Please note: This starting range is based on a general market pay assessment. However, individual salary decisions take into account a variety of factors including but not limited to: business and local market considerations, internal equity, and overall candidate skills, education and experience.
The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, technology, swine health, pork safety and environmental management.
