OverviewReporting to the Head, Retail Channel Distribution, the Director, Retail Distribution is a senior sales leader responsible for driving sales growth, developing talent, and deepening client relationships across an assigned region. This role combines leadership responsibilities with direct sales accountability through ownership of a strategic territory.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Senior Associates, coach and develop high-performing sales professionals, and work closely with senior bank partners to execute growth strategies that enhance client outcomes and contribute to the continued expansion of the retail channel. With retail representing a significant portion of GAM's assets under management and revenue, this role plays a critical part in delivering sustained business growth.
Key AccountabilitiesLeadership & Talent Development- Lead, coach and develop a team of Senior Associates to achieve sales objectives and deliver exceptional client experiences.
- Create a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular field coaching, performance discussions, and development planning.
- Identify and develop future leaders within the sales organization.
- Support workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and succession planning activities.
Sales & Business Development- Own and manage a strategic sales territory while delivering personal sales objectives.
- Develop and execute regional business plans aligned with national sales priorities.
- Identify sales opportunities and market trends to drive net sales growth and asset accumulation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Financial Planners, Branch Leaders, Regional Leaders, and other key stakeholders.
- Partner with GAM product teams and bank partners to identify opportunities to enhance sales effectiveness.
Strategic Partnership Management- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Personal & Business Banking and Wealth businesses.
- Influence business decisions and partner on initiatives that improve client outcomes and sales productivity.
- Leverage market intelligence and field insights to inform sales strategies and business decisions.
- Participate in regional and national business planning discussions.
Execution & Sales Effectiveness- Monitor regional performance metrics and implement strategies to address gaps and capitalize on opportunities.
- Support execution of sales campaigns, product launches, learning initiatives, and client events.
- Foster collaboration across regional sales teams and corporate partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and risk management practices.
Qualifications- 10+ years of progressive experience in investment sales, wealth management, or asset management distribution.
- Proven success as a top-performing wholesaler, sales leader, or relationship manager.
- Previous people leadership experience preferred.
- Deep knowledge of mutual funds, managed solutions, ETFs, and investment planning.
- Strong understanding of retail banking and wealth distribution channels.
- Exceptional coaching, leadership, and talent development capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives.
- Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and data-driven decision making.
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- CFA, CIM, Fin. Pl. or other relevant investment designation considered an asset.
- Willingness to travel throughout assigned region.
Salary:$86,000.00 - $160,000.00
Pay Type: Salaried

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
