Job Description

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Director, Resiliency Lead to join our Corporate Trust team. This role is located in Houston, TX or Pittsburgh, PA.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Plays strategic role in product design and investment, incorporating resiliency-base operations and technological considerations.
  • Has delegated authority to make resiliency-related decisions and represent the business with global regulators, on behalf of EC Sponsor and EOPs.
  • Communicates and implements the Enterprise Resiliency Strategy across Platforms, and equally, the Platform's resiliency objective as agreed with the respective EPO.
  • Manage the foundational elements of resiliency for the identified Critical Business Services (CBSs) and Other Business Services (OBSs) within their remit, utilizing the BNY Business Services Framework (BSF) and taxonomy, to identify and prioritize functions and assets required to deliver end-to-end services to clients.
  • Coordinates preparedness and response activities for business disruptions, incidents and events, including the development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plans (BCP), Business Impact Analysis (BIA), and Incident & Crisis Management (ICM) playbooks and other recovery-related playbooks, analysis of post-event outcomes and improvement opportunities and implementations of actions related to identified gaps, risks or lessons learned (where appropriate).
  • Coordinates the execution of resiliency activities through embedded Operational Resiliency Leads and Resiliency Coordinators.
  • Serves as primary point of coordination in response to incidents / crises with decision rights to activate resiliency strategies based on impact assessment.
  • Responsible for coordinating resources across platforms for effective testing of resiliency capabilities through regular Disaster Recovery testing, Cyber Recovery testing and Data Center Rotation Exercises and presenting results to LOB CEO, EPOs and Legal Entity or regional governing bodies as necessary.
  • Acts as the Platform's primary point of coordination for resiliency-related engagements with global regulators, external auditors, clients and internal teams including 2LoD and 3LoD, and Legal Entity Management.
  • Serves as key point of contact and approver for the Recovery and Resolution Plans aligned to their LOB and/or Legal Entity (not Platform).


To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 12+ years of total work experience preferred.
  • Deep and holistic industry/business/product knowledge and expertise for their Platforms, with subject matter expertise in resiliency.
  • Strong understanding of their Platforms'' technology landscape and capabilities, as well as operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and supervisory expectations for large complex financial institutions.
  • Strong understand of BNY's Risk and Control framework.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Resiliency policies and procedures.
  • Strategic yet detail-oriented, able to follow up and escalate or resolve issues promptly.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Effective coach and collaborator, fostering a high performing culture.
  • Possesses a mix of business and technology skills and can communicate effectively in both contexts.

Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is only part of the total rewards package, which may include eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee's eligible dependents.
