Job Description

The Director, Release Management will be joining the Technical Product Management team to provide leadership and expertise in building the best-in-class technology software and products. Our Technical Product Management team plays a critical role in shaping the technology strategy and operations of HGV product offerings introduced to the market. S/he will be responsible for defining, building, and overseeing product capabilities to address identified market and business needs or customer requests.

This is both a highly strategic and tactical role requiring the ability to accomplish goals through influence and collaborative leadership.

Responsibilities

Project Management
  • Responsible for end-to-end delivery of Projects and Products. Use Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid approach as needed to ensure projects and products have the governance, control and oversight needed to successfully deliver.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for your projects and products whilst empowering your teams to deliver.
  • Use extensive SDLC expertise and experience to work closely with Product Managers, Scrum Masters, QA, Testing and Engineering to deliver the required functionality and value aligned to the Product Roadmap
  • Use appropriate tools and metrics to demonstrate the end-to-end throughput of requirements, features, epics and user stories from initiation to production
  • Collaborate effectively with teams across IT, Business and Vendors to ensure the successful delivery, from planning to hypercare, of Products and Projects
  • Ensure projects are completed On Time, In Full, With Quality, On Budget. Define, track and mitigate risks and issues.
  • Provide accurate, concise and focused status reporting including up to C-level
  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure and report on project and release management effectiveness
  • Work to ensure adherence to HGV defined Release & Project Management policies, procedures and standards
  • Manage, lead, and support a team of Project / Release Managers and Scrum Masters to ensure delivery of software products
  • Support the continuous improvement of Project & Release Management process to increase efficiency, quality and success

Leadership
  • Lead, support and coach Snr Release Managers under your line management responsibility. Ensure they have the tools, expertise, support and guidance to succeed and develop within their roles
  • Demonstrate, by example and on a daily basis, the leadership qualities valued by HGV including collaboration, strategic & long term thinking, relationship & team building, coaching & mentoring, and effective decision making
  • Support the Snr Director, Release Management in driving forward process enhancements, shared team successes and strategic initiatives. Act as a delegate when needed, especially when the Snr Director is not available
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus

Stakeholder Management
  • Understand and manage to stakeholder expectations to ensure successful Product delivery
  • Prepare and conduct C-Level and Executive Level Sponsor updates and provide the appropriate status information for budget, schedule, scope, resource, quality, risks
  • Partner with teams to create and implement Release Communication Plans and conduct ongoing reviews with all impacted parties


Financial / Resource Management
  • Create and track against financial plans and ensure product budgets and forecasts are timely and accurate
  • Develop and manage resource plans to ensure optimal resource allocation and productive team performance
  • Identify, manage and report on pre-defined KPIs / metrics

Qualifications

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:
  • Fifteen (15) plus years of successfully managing Projects and Products in a fast-paced environment

  • Four (4) year college degree in computer science or a related field
