Director, Real-World Evidence Research-Oncology

The Director, Real-World Evidence (RWE) Research - Oncology is a strategic scientific leader responsible for developing and executing the oncology real-world evidence strategy across the product lifecycle. This individual leads the design, oversight, and dissemination of high-impact observational research programs that generate evidence on treatment effectiveness, safety, patient outcomes, biomarker utilization, healthcare resource utilization, and value in routine clinical practice.

The Director serves as a key thought partner to Medical Affairs, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial leadership. The role provides scientific leadership for evidence-generation initiatives supporting oncology assets from early development through post-launch and loss of exclusivity. This position requires deep expertise in oncology, epidemiology, real-world data (RWD), observational research methodologies, and cross-functional leadership within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director, Real-World Evidence Research-Oncology are to:

  • Co-lead the development and implementation of the US RWE strategies for various oncology products;
  • Responsible for RWE plan that is integrated into the US medical and brand plans;
  • Design and conduct RWE studies to support the oncology portfolio data generation plans;
  • Assist in the timely development of high quality AMCP dossiers, budget impact models and other supporting materials for managed care organizations (MCO);
  • Provide data to use for pricing and reimbursement strategies in US market;
  • Lead US multifunctional team (clinical, MSLs, marketing, NHS) to develop real world evidence value;
  • Interact with MCOs, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), KOLs to deliver value messages for product pricing and reimbursement and utilization;
  • Develop and approve special therapeutics ISS studies as key member of ISS committee;
  • Develop communication/publication strategies for RWE/HEOR • Manage budget for RWE/HEOR studies;
  • Ensure US RWE strategies are aligned with US medical, marketing, and Global RWE strategies;
  • Work closely with medical directors, field medical personnel, and cross-functional partners to identify RWE gaps and needs and develop new projects to address those needs;
  • Lead cross-functional teams and demonstrate leadership in real world evidence as well as health economics and outcomes research. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, external vendors and collaboration partners for research in addition to budget negotiation;
  • Liaise with senior management within both the US and Global Bayer organization to drive RWE strategy and outputs;
  • Interact with external KOLs, FDA/CMS and professional organizations to drive RWE strategies and outputs.


WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • MS.c./MPH, Pharm.D., Ph.D. or other equivalent degree in the healthcare field and more specifically in health economics or real-world evidence-based research;
  • Experience in real-world evidence and/or outcomes research, epidemiology, health economics or a related field;
  • Progressive experience in real world evidence research and/or health economics and outcomes research in the pharmaceutical industry;
  • Experience in managing project teams for an asset;
  • Sound understanding of real-world evidence research principles and models; ability to think strategically and make sound research and business decisions;
  • Sound understanding of pricing, reimbursement and government agency requirements as well as the competitive economic dynamics of pharmaceutical industry in the US;
  • Excellent communication skills and good understanding in the multicultural corporate environments;
  • Ability to travel to conferences and internal meetings as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years progressive experience in real world evidence research and/or health economics and outcomes research in pharmaceutical industry;
  • At least 5 years progressive experience in real world evidence research and/or health economics and outcomes research in pharmaceutical industry;
  • Experience working within Oncology is strongly preferred.


Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $185,400 to $278,160. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
