LOCATION: CorporateCOMPENSATION: The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $120,000-$135,000. The actual salary will be determined based on experience and other-job related factors, consistent with applicable law.
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week
SCHEDULE: The expected schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM.
Position SummaryThe Director of Real Estate Services is responsible for the overall success of First Mortgage and Home Equity Lending at the credit union, including the administration, coordination and evaluation of the Mortgage Department policies, procedures, and processes. This individual will oversee the development of all real estate lending policies, programs, procedures, business, and product development in order to obtain the strategic goals of the credit union. The Director of Real Estate Services will lead the member experience effort in overall support of mortgage service, operations, and sales. Additionally, the Director of Real Estate Services will identify and develop employees to exceed performance expectations and build future leaders for the credit union. Essential Responsibilities - Must be capable of performing the following essential responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, as outlined below.
- Develop, train and coach the Management and Staff personnel reporting directly to the Director of Real Estate Services. The individuals should be developed both to provide for adequate succession planning and to attain their own career development goals.
- Participate in Strategic Planning Meetings to provide input, generate ideas, and further the interests of the credit union, the owner/members, as well as providing updates on relevant projects
- Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the current trends and economic conditions in real estate lending and servicing to ensure the credit union is maintaining a high level of service when compared to others in the financial services industry
- Monitor key ratios and trends in real estate lending and take proactive steps to insure the best outcomes for our owner/members
- Ensure that a positive work environment and culture is fostered resulting in satisfied employees in accordance with the credit union's mission statement and our team values
- Review the processes and operations under his/her control to ensure that the areas are operating as efficiently as possible
- Support the Sales and Service Culture at the credit union. Maximize the success of the real estate lending and ensuring that sales efforts are strongly encouraged and reinforced by management coaching and recognition.
- Ensure that all mortgage staff are provided with adequate training and that their sales efforts are in accordance with the credit union's philosophies. Sales should be based on member's needs as part of an overall Sales and Service Culture.
- Ensure adherence to all policies related to areas of oversight tasked to the Director of Real Estate Services
- Ensure that up to date training, reference, and other appropriate material are available to assist the mortgage staff in the completion of their duties
- Oversee the development and adherence to budgets for the mortgage lending department to ensure that the credit union's funds are being optimally utilized
- Monitor pricing policy for first mortgages and recommends adjustments to the pricing policies when necessary.
- Report mortgage pipeline to ALM on a regular basis and complete monthly statistical reports that are submitted to senior management
- Adequate control should be maintained regarding real estate vendors that provide service to our members and The Mortgage Department in accordance with Vendor Management policies and procedures
- Work with the AVP of Lending or other Summit Stakeholders in Business Lending as needed
Underwriting- Ensure each mortgage request is processed in a timely manner, in accordance with Loan Policies set forth by Senior Management and / or the Board of Directors. Adherence to these policies must be monitored and included in each employee's review.
- Responsible for underwriting all employee mortgage and home equity loans as well as employee consumer loans on a rotation basis
- On an as needed basis, The Director of Real Estate Services is responsible for any revisions pertaining to the mortgage section of our loan policy as well as the Home Equity and First Mortgage Policy
Other Responsibilities- Participate in special assignments, project and committees as requested by the AVP of Lending
- Provide a positive example to all areas in the credit union through his/her interactions with others
- Represents and promotes the credit union within the business community
- Establish and maintain networking relationships throughout the community through involvement and participation in business, social, community and/or political committees, Boards, or other activities

Qualifications and SkillsEducation & Experience - Applicants must possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience:
- Education: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Management or related field.
- Experience: Must have 7-10 years commensurate work experience required and 5+ years of comprehensive management and mortgage lending experience.
- Must be familiar with the financial service industry. Must have 3-5 years' experience in the financial industry.
- Familiarity with lending regulations governing financial institutions, preferably credit unions is desired
- Current knowledge of FNMA underwriting and servicing rules
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including Technical & Systems/Equipment Proficiencies)- Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing at a professional business level

- In depth understanding of the credit union's products and services; ability to oversee planning and execution of new products and/or programs

Training and Compliance Requirements- Subject to the compliance requirements of all related federal regulations, including but not limited to; the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti Money Laundering (AML), Information Security and Privacy policies and procedures. Employees complete annual BSA, AML, Information Security, Privacy and other job-related training requirements as established by the Summit and within deadlines.
Licensure Requirements - In compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act) and the statute's regulations, applicants must be eligible to register as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO). Candidates being considered will be subject to a credit check and fingerprinting.
