Introduction
As Director, RDU IT Business Partner, US Commercial, you will serve as a senior business-facing technology partner, shaping and delivering technology, data, digital, and AI-enabled capabilities that support commercial priorities, launch readiness, commercial transformation, and improved patient outcomes.

This position is based in Boston, MA, and may require up to 20% travel.

About the Role
The Director, RDU IT Business Partner, US Commercial will serve as a senior IT Business Partner for the US Commercial organization, with a defined portfolio spanning Commercial business functions, Commercial Training, Rare Disease Therapy Area teams, launch, Finance, Commercial Operations, Market Access, and enabling functions and AI-enabled transformation.

This role will build trusted relationships with senior Commercial stakeholders, shape the multi-year technology and AI roadmap for assigned business areas, lead demand prioritization, steward portfolio health, and partner across IT, Digital, Data, AI, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Compliance, Finance, Service Delivery, and external partners to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior IT Business Partner and trusted advisor for assigned US Commercial business areas, aligning technology, data, digital, and AI roadmaps to business priorities.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across US Commercial, Commercial Training, Rare Disease Therapy Area teams, launch, Finance, Commercial Operations, Market Access, and enabling functions.

  • Partner with business leaders to translate strategic objectives into capability roadmaps, prioritized demand, investment options, and measurable outcomes.

  • Steward assigned Commercial IT portfolio activities, including demand intake, prioritization, funding alignment, risks, dependencies, value realization, ServiceNow visibility, and executive reporting.

  • Lead disciplined business capability mapping and technology roadmap development, ensuring roadmaps reflect business strategy, process maturity, data readiness, AI opportunity, and adoption needs.

  • Support Market Access and GTN priorities at the portfolio level by translating key business needs into scalable, compliant technology and data-enabled solutions.

  • Ensure assigned commercial solutions include appropriate governance, compliance, privacy, financial controls, adoption planning, and measurable value outcomes.

  • Lead launch technology planning for new products, indications, and therapy area priorities with Sales, Marketing, Commercial Training, Market Access, and business operations.

  • Lead through influence across business, IT, data, AI, architecture, delivery, and vendor teams; coach colleagues on business partnering, AI literacy, portfolio governance, executive communication, and value realization.

AI-Ready Business Partner Responsibilities

  • Enable AI for the business by identifying, framing, prioritizing, and scaling high-value AI, GenAI, agentic AI, automation, analytics, and data product opportunities across US Commercial workflows.

  • Translate AI ideas into business-ready use cases with clear problem statements, target users, data requirements, operating model impacts, success measures, risks, and adoption requirements.

  • Drive AI-enabled business outcomes across commercial decision support, launch readiness, Commercial Training enablement, executive reporting, forecasting support, customer engagement, and portfolio prioritization.

  • Champion responsible AI adoption by partnering with Data, AI, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders to define explainability, traceability, human oversight, auditability, security, and value measurement requirements.

  • Move the business from AI experimentation to measurable business impact by defining baselines, success metrics, adoption targets, governance requirements, and continuous improvement loops.

  • Model AI-enabled business partnering by using approved AI tools and LLM-enabled workflows to improve stakeholder preparation, meeting synthesis, portfolio reporting, roadmap development, risk identification, executive communication, and follow-through.

  • Use AI-assisted analysis to improve demand intake, synthesize stakeholder feedback, compare requirements, identify duplicate or overlapping requests, and generate clearer business problem statements.

  • Apply AI to organize knowledge, transition documentation, initiative history, open risks, dependencies, decisions, and stakeholder context while validating outputs and protecting sensitive information.

  • Coach business and IT partners with practical, compliant AI usage patterns that improve productivity, quality, decision speed, and accountability.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Business, Life Sciences, Data / Analytics, or related fields.

  • 12+ years of experience in IT, digital, data, commercial technology, or enterprise technology roles, including business partnership, portfolio ownership, solution delivery, and cross-functional leadership.

  • Experience working in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, life sciences, or another regulated industry.

  • Demonstrated experience as a senior IT Business Partner or technology leader supporting Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Operations, Finance, or related business functions.

  • Strong understanding of US Commercial business processes, launch planning, sales and marketing operations, commercial operations, portfolio governance, and value realization.

  • Working knowledge of Market Access, GTN, commercial operations, and related financial decision-support processes.

  • Experience shaping or delivering data, analytics, digital, automation, AI, or technology-enabled transformation capabilities.

  • Experience with CRM and related commercial platforms such as Salesforce, Veeva, or other life sciences commercial technologies.

  • Strong understanding of data products, analytics, reporting, commercial data foundations, SDLC, Agile practices, privacy, security, quality, compliance, and regulatory expectations.

  • Experience managing portfolio funding, business cases, risks, dependencies, vendor engagement, and executive-level reporting.

  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, simplify complexity, drive alignment, communicate technology concepts in business language, and connect technology investments to business value, patient impact, efficiency, adoption, and risk reduction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience supporting Commercial, Finance, Patient Services, Launch Excellence, Commercial Training, Market Access, or Rare Disease Therapy Area technology portfolios.

  • Experience with Salesforce Health Cloud, Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud, Veeva, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, ServiceNow, Snowflake, data products, BI / analytics platforms, or AI-enabled commercial platforms.

  • Experience with rare disease commercial models, specialty pharmacy, patient access, payer engagement, field reimbursement, care coordination, or high-touch business-facing environments.

  • Experience leading governance forums, executive portfolio reviews, vendor partnerships, product-oriented operating models, transformation programs, adoption plans, and value-realization plans.

  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, including explainability, traceability, human oversight, auditability, privacy, compliance, risk management, and adoption of governance.

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to balance strategic thinking, operational discipline, stakeholder empathy, and execution focus.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $153,018.40 - $200,836.65 USD. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 

In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
