Within the Global Advertising team, we combine technology, creativity, and storytelling to deliver advertising solutions that drive measurable impact for our partners. We seek a dynamic senior leader with extensive experience within the public affairs vertical to join our Global Advertising team.

How You'll Support the Mission
  • Lead the team responsible for relationships across the Public and Corporate Affairs landscape to deliver sustained, multi-million-dollar revenue growth.
  • Cultivate deep, trusted relationships with senior decision-makers (C-suite, VP, and Director level) across clients, agencies, and the public and corporate affairs ecosystem. Build and execute comprehensive account strategies that align client objectives with The Post's full suite of media and data capabilities including custom content, live events, audio, video, and programmatic solutions.
  • Serve as a category expert and market voice, representing The Washington Post at key client meetings, industry events, and thought-leadership forums.
  • Partner with internal strategy, creative, and operations teams to design and sell integrated campaigns that achieve measurable business outcomes.
  • Anticipate industry trends and advise clients on new opportunities where The Post's platforms can deliver a competitive advantage.
  • Report on team's performance, forecasting, and pipeline health with precision and accountability.


The Skills and Experience You Bring

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in media sales within DC and the public affairs category
  • At least 4 years of proven management experience, with a track record of being an exceptional leader who develops high-performing sales teams.
  • Extensive network of senior client and agency relationships within DC
  • Experience working across multi-million dollar client accounts and scaling the business within that account through deepening relationships and working across multiple lines of business
  • Ability to travel to client locations (when in-person meeting activity is appropriate)
  • Strong presentation and in-person sales skills and a proven record of accomplishment in building and sustaining client/agency relationships.
  • Knowledge of the digital media market and the ability to respond effectively to market direction, client needs, and competition.
  • Ability to establish rapport, develop credibility, and sell ideas to senior management.
  • A strong, professional, goal-oriented work ethic and a track record of meeting quarterly/annual goals.
  • A desire to manage a team through the entire sales process (including prospecting, acquiring new business, and maintaining relationships).
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience selling integrated campaigns combining digital, print, custom content, live events, audio and social advertising within the news industry

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The salary range for this position is:
$166,180 - $308,630 Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.

About Washington Post

The Washington Post is an American daily newspaper published in Washington, D.C. It is the most-widely circulated newspaper within the Washington metropolitan area and has a large international audience. Daily broadsheet editions are printed for D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The newspaper has won the Pulitzer Prize 65 times for its work, the second-most of any publication. It is considered a newspaper of record in the U.S. Post journalists have also received 18 Nieman Fellowships and 368 White House News Photographers Association awards. The paper is well known for its political reporting and is one of the few remaining American newspapers to operate foreign bureaus. The Post was founded in 1877. In its early years, it went through several owners and struggled both financially and editorially. Financier Eugene Meyer purchased it out of bankruptcy in 1933 and revived its health and reputation, work continued by his successors Katharine and Phil Graham, who bought out several rival publications. The Post's 1971 printing of the Pentagon Papers helped spur opposition to the Vietnam War. Subsequently, in the best-known episode in the newspaper's history, reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein led the American press's investigation into what became known as the Watergate scandal, which resulted in the 1974 resignation of President Richard Nixon. The advent of the internet expanded the Post's national and international reach. In October 2013, the Graham family sold the newspaper to Nash Holdings, a holding company owned by Jeff Bezos, for $250 million.
