Full Job Description
The Director, Protective Intelligence for Major League Baseball will support the Senior Vice President, Security & Ballpark Operations and the Vice President, Executive Protection & Global Intelligence in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on potential and emerging risks that may impact MLB executives, personnel, players, facilities, and assets. This position plays an important role in maintaining real-time situational awareness by directing the collection, analysis, and dissemination of threat intelligence information across the organization. The Director will apply foundational skills in intelligence collection, research, and report writing, while leveraging various information technology, social media, and communications platforms. The role requires a working expertise in threat monitoring, intelligence analysis, global security trends, and relevant open-source and classified data sources.

The Director must work effectively with international, federal, state, tribal, and local law enforcement and intelligence organizations such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, Homeland Security (among others), and local law enforcement to ensure relevant intelligence information is shared in a timely fashion. The Director will supervise a number of full-time and contract intelligence analysts, as needed, and will assist MLB in building a robust intelligence monitoring and facilities security program.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain strong relationships and coordinate with federal, state, tribal, and local law enforcement to develop and implement protective intelligence plans for each MLB event (domestic & international), facility, and key asset. Act as chief liaison with these groups to maintain a line of sight to emerging potential risks and the related vulnerabilities
  • Assure that MLB intelligence analyses are consistent with sports industry and corporate intelligence best practices and that the physical security strategy is aligned with the business needs of MLB
  • Identify and analyze relevant risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging threats; produce timely, actionable intelligence to support enterprise-wide security and executive protection operations
  • Conduct research across open-source intelligence (OSINT), social media platforms, and the deep/dark web to detect threats with potential impact to MLB and relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor global geopolitical developments and assess their potential impact on international travel, MLB Global Events, and business operations; provide timely updates and situational reports
  • Support MLB's executive protection program with ad-hoc intelligence analysis and pre-operational briefings, as needed
  • Oversee MLB's office/facilities security program, ensuring 24/7 security coverage, where appropriate
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of both tactical and strategic intelligence reports for internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with team members to identify information gaps, develop intelligence requirements, and enhance early threat detection capabilities
  • Coordinate closely with Club security personnel to ensure seamless intelligence integration and situational awareness
  • Conduct risk assessments on potential security department vendors, independent contractors, and business partners to identify reputational or operational vulnerabilities
  • Represent MLB in appropriate professional organizations and continuing education programs
  • Perform other related duties as directed by Department leadership

Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of intelligence collection, analysis, and dissemination experience
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive research and analysis using multiple unclassified sources and synthesize data into information relevant to consumers
  • Ability to liaise with U.S. law enforcement and intelligence personnel
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish tasks as directed by supervisors
  • Professional demeanor, organized, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to manage deliverables with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and implement new ideas to drive the program forward
  • Experience identifying, testing, and implementing new tools and procedures then training others on best practices and lessons learned
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to conduct briefings that present clear, concise, logic-based conclusions to support and inform the executive decision-making process
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with appropriate discretion
  • This position is based in New York City and is not eligible for remote work
  • Ability to obtain a federal security clearance
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Salary Range: $185,000 - $225,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
