JOB DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages execution of the Company's capital program to approved targets.
  • Oversees and monitors schedule, scope, budget, cost, & forecast of the ITC operating companies' capital construction programs.
  • Oversees the monthly financial forecasting of the capital construction programs for all ITC Operating companies.
  • Oversees the development of the annual capital budget and supports the development of the five-year capital plan for all ITC Operating companies and the overall enterprise, providing input on forecasts of project costs, impact of resource constraints, and recommended risk adjustments.
  • Determines the strategic plan for the utilization of design consultants and construction contractors. 
  • Approves consultant and contractor selection for design and project work. 
  • Oversees the execution of the capital plan from design to construction completion, ensuring the best utilization of resources throughout the project while adhering to the strategic plan for the utilization of construction contractors and design consultants.
  • Oversees the preparation of detailed project status reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Provides information on the status of capital construction programs within ITC; may participate in external forums where capital expenditures are discussed with stakeholders.
  • Ensures the Design and Project teams are looking for opportunities to make process improvements in how the Company manages our workload advocating for cost consciousness and efficiency.
  • Ensures effective coordination with other areas of company such as Asset Management, System Protection & Control, Stakeholder Relations, Legal, Real Estate, Operations, and Planning. 
  • Attends meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills.
  • Ensure the teams supporting the capital program develop and maintain a highly skilled, highly motivated and team-oriented workforce through coaching and mentoring.
  • Recommends training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills for the group.
  • Coaches, mentors, trains, develops, motivates and supervises staff; assigns and reviews work, and appraises employees.

  • Works closely with the Vice President of Engineering on organizational policy development, implementation of corporate policies, negotiation/resolution of issues within the entire Engineering team, and communication of the organization vision in Engineering.

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility industry. 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge of electric utility system planning, protection, design, construction, operations and/or maintenance functions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of project scheduling and budgeting tools (for example, Microsoft Projects or Primavera.)
  • Possesses intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Possesses sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Very good understanding and command of the company business model and of various areas of the company including planning, budgeting, finance and accounting, supply chain, estimating, design, project controls, construction, and operations.
