Job Summary

We're looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering organization at Chromalloy's Tampa Castings facility and help drive the next phase of growth for our aerospace casting operations. This role provides strategic and operational leadership across production and process engineering, tooling, dimensional/layout engineering, new product introduction (NPI), and process automation initiatives.

As a key member of the site leadership team, you will lead a team of approximately 40 engineering professionals while advancing critical business priorities including automation, digital transformation, capacity expansion, yield improvement, and technical talent development. The successful candidate will foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction..

Travel: Approximately 10-20%

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead all site engineering functions, including production and process engineering, tooling design and operations, dimensional/layout engineering, NPI, and PMA program execution.
  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy supporting site growth, capacity expansion, operational excellence, and customer commitments.
  • Drive process automation initiatives including robotics, cobots, CNC integration, digital manufacturing technologies, and AI-enabled process controls.
  • Sponsor and oversee the rollout of TeamCenter and digital-thread technologies to strengthen engineering processes, product lifecycle management, and data-driven decision making.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Continuous Improvement, EHS, and HR leadership to achieve site performance objectives.
  • Improve manufacturing yield, reduce scrap and rework, and drive engineering-led process improvements across core, wax, shell, casting, and post-cast operations.
  • Lead tooling and dimensional engineering teams to ensure execution of critical production and new product development requirements.
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering organization through succession planning, coaching, capability development, and strategic hiring.
  • Manage engineering priorities, resources, and capital projects to ensure successful execution of automation, tooling, and manufacturing initiatives.
  • Interface with customers, program offices, and regulatory stakeholders on technical matters, product performance, and engineering compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, export control requirements, and all applicable engineering standards.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies and operational excellence principles.


What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience within aerospace, aviation, industrial gas turbine, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including managers, supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
  • Proven track record leading complex engineering organizations through growth, transformation, succession, or organizational change.
  • Experience delivering significant capital projects, automation initiatives, or manufacturing technology programs with measurable business impact.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process control, quality systems, and product development processes.
  • Experience partnering across operations, quality, supply chain, and executive leadership teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders from the shop floor to executive leadership.
  • Ability to establish clear priorities, develop talent, drive accountability, and deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Nice to Have
  • Direct experience with aerospace investment casting processes, including core, wax, shell, casting, and finishing operations.
  • Knowledge of equiax, directional solidification (DS), and single-crystal (SX) casting technologies.
  • Experience with automation technologies such as robotics, cobots, machine vision systems, CNC automation, AMRs, or AI-enabled manufacturing solutions.
  • Experience with TeamCenter, Siemens NX, CAD/CAM systems, PLM platforms, SPC tools, or digital manufacturing systems.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, FAA-regulated environments, and aerospace customer requirements.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), PMA programs, or aerospace production scale-ups.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
