Full Job Description
This is your opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic, global environment, surrounded by forward-thinking peers.

A central factor to Goodwin's strategic plan to be an elite, industry-built law firm that seamlessly fuses legal excellence with strategic and business advisory is the firm's proprietary transactional terms and case data: the deal points, precedent terms, litigation outcomes, and matter experience captured across decades of representing market-leading clients. The Director, Product - Legal Data Intelligence leads the firm's efforts to transform this proprietary experience data into actionable intelligence - embedding it into attorney workflows, internal tools, and client-facing services and products, and expanding the scope and scale of data captured across the firm's practices. This is a builder role: the Director will stand up a new product function from the ground up, hire and lead a team, and partner closely across Knowledge & Innovation, Digital & Technology, and Data Analytics - including the Director of AI Product & Platform, Managing Director of Data Analytics, and Director of Engineering - to deliver a firmwide data intelligence roadmap.

What You Will Do:
  • Own the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for the firm's proprietary transactional terms (deal points) and case/litigation data programs - from data capture and taxonomy design through deployment in tools, workflows, and products.
  • Build, hire, and lead a dedicated Legal Data Intelligence product team as the function scales.
  • Partner with the Director of AI Product & Platform, Managing Director of Data Analytics, and Director of Engineering to align the data intelligence roadmap with the firm's broader AI, data, and technology platform architecture.
  • Expand the scope and scale of data captured across transactional and litigation practices - working with K&I Lawyers, practice group leaders, and attorneys to identify new data sets, close capture gaps, and evolve taxonomies and data standards.
  • Translate raw deal term and case data into actionable intelligence: benchmarking tools, dashboards, market/trend analyses, and decision-support products for attorneys, clients, and firm leadership.
  • Embed data intelligence into attorney workflows and existing firm systems (e.g., experience/expertise management platforms, document automation, drafting tools, client-facing applications) to drive habitual adoption.
  • Identify and develop new client-facing product and service opportunities that showcase or monetize the firm's proprietary data assets, in direct support of the firm's strategic and business advisory ambitions.
  • Define product success metrics and establish structured feedback loops with attorneys, practice groups, and clients to inform roadmap prioritization.
  • Lead budget, resourcing, and build-vs-buy/vendor decisions for the legal data intelligence program.
  • Present roadmap, progress, and business cases to leadership.
  • Align with IT, Security, and firm risk functions to ensure data governance, data quality, and responsible AI standards are embedded across the program.
  • Monitor legal data, AI, and legal technology market trends; benchmark against peer firms and legal data/intelligence providers to keep the firm's data offering differentiated.
  • Perform additional duties as required based on business needs, including support for data governance reviews, cross-functional program updates, and urgent implementation matters.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree required; JD, MBA, or other advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive product management experience, including leadership levels of data, analytics, or enterprise capabilities at scale.
  • Prior experience in a law firm, legal technology, or another professional services/regulated data environment strongly preferred; experience partnering with engineering, AI/data science, and UX functions to deliver enterprise-grade products.
  • Understanding of legal industry data strongly preferred, including deal terms/deal points, litigation analytics, precedent and experience management systems.
  • Deep experience with data discovery, search, content enrichment, and data visualization products, ideally within legal, financial, or another data-intensive professional services industry.
  • Strong cross-functional stakeholder management across legal, engineering, data science, UX, and business functions; demonstrated ability to present to senior leadership and C-level/partner stakeholders.
  • Experience translating complex structured and unstructured information into commercial or operational value, including go-to-market and product marketing experience.
  • Fluency with agile product development practices, OKRs, and product-led growth methodologies.
  • Budget and resource planning experience, including evaluation of strategic partnerships, vendors, and potential acquisitions.
  • Excellent communication and change-management skills, with the ability to drive adoption of new tools and workflows among attorneys and practice groups.
