Full Job Description
Overview

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and results-driven Director for our Product team. This role is an individual contributor responsible for understanding unmet needs across our software, hardware, and UI products, converting them into validated product opportunities and business cases, defining the product roadmap, and partnering with Product Design, R&D, Engineering, and Data Science to drive execution through launch. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional leadership, strategic foresight, and analytical acumen, with a proven track record of driving large-scale, cross- functional initiatives. You will serve as a key organizational leader, collaborating closely with executive leadership across Marketing, R&D, Engineering, Data science and Product Design to maximize market impact and drive product development. This role owns product strategy and definition through the point of detailed requirements; Product Design owns detailed requirements and UI/UX execution, and go-to-market strategy and commercial launch execution are owned by the Marketing and Go-to-Market teams, in partnership with this role.

This role is hybrid with some travel required for customer engagement, industry events, and headquarters collaboration (1-2 weeks per month).

What you'll do:
  • Market assessment: Leverage market research, performance of existing products, conferences, KOLs and expert interviews to develop a deep understanding of market dynamics including TAM, macroeconomic trends, needs of customers, patients and payors, competitive threats, and unmet needs.
  • Opportunity identification: Define new product opportunities that address unmet needs, capture significant revenue opportunities for the company, differentiate the portfolio and resonate across customer segments. Partner with Sales, KOLs, and physician customers to identify opportunities for new products as well as improvements and modifications to existing product lines, serving as the voice of the customer throughout the product lifecycle. Test underlying assumptions to strengthen the case for an opportunity and develop business case, including pricing and margin analysis. Determine resources needed to bring opportunity to market. Drive toward a clear go/no-go decision.
  • Roadmap definition: Define key timelines and milestones for new product development. Identify critical decision points and ensure decisions are made in a timely fashion. Ensure that new product opportunities fit synergistically into the overall company roadmap for new products and ensure adequate support.
  • Drive action: Champion organizational alignment to drive adoption and implementation of roadmap. Partner with Product Design to hand off approved opportunities for detailed requirements and UI/UX definition, and support R&D Engineering, and Data Science as they develop the product. Remain the strategic-level subject matter expert on product opportunity and business case, and the escalation point for major roadmap and scope trade-offs. Partner with Clinical Affairs on clinical study design and evidence generation strategy for products under development.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by your Manager/Supervisor.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Experience: 8-10+ years of progressive experience in product management, product strategy (sometimes titled "upstream marketing" at other companies), or management consulting leadership roles, with a strong preference for individuals from the healthcare or medical technology industry.
  • Familiarity: with FDA regulatory pathways (e.g. 510(k)) and clinical evidence requirements.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience managing cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical Excellence: Exceptional analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to transform complex datasets into executive-level strategic directives.
  • Communication: Masterful verbal and written communication skills, with extensive experience presenting to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Product roadmap: Previous experience in developing product roadmaps is highly preferred.
  • AI leverage: Comfort using AI tools to accelerate market/clinical research and analysis is a plus as we look to build more AI leverage into the Strategy and Design functions.
