Director Pharmacy

Position Highlights

  • Core Work hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00a-5:00p;

Texas Health Azle has served the tri-county area of North Texas since 1953. Our 36-bed community hospital provides care to residents in Azle, Lake Worth, Springtown, and surrounding Tarrant, Wise, and Parker county communities.

We specialize in outpatient surgery and GI endoscopy, along with comprehensive rehabilitative therapies that include physical therapy, hand therapy, lymphedema treatment, and pelvic health services. Our advanced imaging capabilities include digital mammography, CT scans, bone density, and MRI. Our emergency department serves one of the largest geographic areas in the DFW Metroplex, providing care across three counties.

Texas Health Azle holds Joint Commission accreditation for disease-specific Chest Pain care and is designated by the Texas Department of Health & Human Services as a Level IV Trauma Center and Level IV Support Stroke Facility. The American Nurses Credentialing Center recognizes us as a Pathways to Excellence hospital for our supportive workplace environment.

The Pharmacy Director has the following duties and responsibilities:

Pharmacy Operations
Responsible for ensuring that all pharmacy operations are conducted within limits of all local, state and federal regulatory standards and accreditation compliance.

Human Resources
. Direct personnel functions for the department, including hiring, firing, counseling, career pathway and salary administration. Seek and retain personnel with the qualifications and competence to support and skill level required and the goals established for the departments.
. Collaborates to provide in-services and educational opportunities to increase knowledge and ability to provide the highest service available.
. Supervise the various levels of licensed and non-licensed personnel in the department within the functions of the shared leadership for organized management structure.

Quality/Safety/Regulatory
. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care.
. Maintain intradepartmental and agency relationships and communications to foster a service attitude.

Financial Management and Planning
. Develop and implement business plans and strategies to meet organizational goals.
. Participate on hospital or medical staff committees, and THR committees to identify patient care requirement and staffing needs; to plan and implement recruitment strategies; and to determine long range plans for delivery programs, facilities, equipment and human resources.
. Collaborate with designated hospital and system leaders in preparation and subsequent monitoring of the annual operating and capital expense budget of the pharmacy.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy Required
Other Pharm.D., MBA or MHA Preferred

Experience
5 Years hospital pharmacist Required
progressive leadership experience or residency experience Preferred
Supervisory or Managerial Experience Strongly Preferred
Acute Care Experience Strongly Preferred
EPIC experience is a Plus

Licenses and Certifications
PHAR - Pharmacist Upon Hire Required

Skills
Knowledge of financial analysis, planning, hospital operations and computer. Ability to work as a member of a team, to lead, learn and be creative. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
