Director (PE), Public Infrastructure, Baton Rouge, LAHalff is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Director to join our Public Infrastructure team in Baton Rouge, LA. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of experience in delivering public infrastructure utilities, local infrastructure and/or transportation projects, an established network of clients, and knowledge of established practices in regional clients' rotation lists, on-calls and pre-qualification pools in Louisiana. What you will do:
- Lead and manage multiple teams of engineers and/or other professional/technical staff within their discipline, providing guidance, mentorship, and support
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth
- Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and identify areas for improvement
- Implement and uphold rigorous quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet high-quality standards
- Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of projects within their discipline, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in technologies and methodologies within the discipline and apply them to enhance project outcomes
- Collaborate with business development teams to prepare proposals, presentations, and proposals for potential projects
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs, address concerns, and identify new business opportunities
- Develop and maintain a robust network of municipal clients and teaming partners
- Identify potential projects within the region and initiate implementation strategies for successful awarding of new design contracts
- Utilize a deep understanding of principles and best practices within the discipline, to guide project teams effectively
- Develop project scopes, professional services fee development, and staff projections
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to understand project requirements and deliverables
- Work in a collaborative team environment with multiple offices and various disciplines
- Oversee large scale, complex, multi-discipline projects
- Drive sales growth, coach strong financial project performance, and monitor other key metrics
What you will need:- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Louisiana
- At least 15 years of experience in utility and public infrastructure design, local infrastructure, public works, municipal and Louisiana DOTD roadways, trails, drainage, and land development projects
- Bentley OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients, team members, and stakeholders effectively
- Servant leader mentality with strong ability to train and mentor staff
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams effectively
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client and teaming partner relationships in Louisiana
- Demonstrable project wins as a key individual on the project team organizational chart
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering projects of varying sizes and complexities within their discipline
