FTE: 1, Shift: M-F, Schedule: 8-4:30Position SummaryThe Director of PB Coding and Professional Billing Clinical Documentation Integrity (PB CDI) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing organization-wide PB coding, coding audit education, data integrity, and PB CDI operations for MultiCare's hospitals, physician clinics, and employed provider organization. This role ensures the accuracy of diagnosis and procedure coding as documented, supports appropriate reimbursement capture, promotes reliable reporting of services, and advances corporate compliance through consistent oversight, quality monitoring, education, and process improvement.
Responsibilities: - Establishes, monitors, evaluates, and facilitates PB coding and PB CDI processes across the organization.
- Oversight of Professional Billing Coding staff, Coding Audit Education staff, and PB CDI operations, including staff performance, work quality, audit outcomes, education needs, and appropriate utilization of human and material resources.
- Provides and supports in-service education, formal training, quality review, and ongoing feedback to ensure coding accuracy, documentation integrity, and alignment with regulatory, operational, and reimbursement requirements.
- Uses management skills daily to support departmental operations, execute policies, programs, and procedures, and drive continuous improvement across PB coding and CDI functions.
- Development of consultative and collaborative relationships internally and externally. Internal contacts include executives, management, physicians, nursing, coding, CDI, and staff throughout the Health System.
Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, management or similar discipline from an accredited college or university; 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
- (CCS-P, CPC, CCS, or CPC-H) credential preferred
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in hospital or professional coding
Pay and Benefit ExpectationsWe provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $104,665.60 - $150,612.80 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
