POSITION SUMMARY

LA Orbit is building a new professional sports franchise in Los Angeles and helping shape the next chapter of women's volleyball.

We are looking for a Director, Partnership Marketing to lead the day-to-day management and activation of our growing portfolio of commercial partners. This person will be a trusted partner to the brands that invest in the team, ensuring we deliver on our commitments, bring partnerships to life with excellence and create an experience that makes brands want to continue growing with us. This role sits at the center of our commercial organization, working closely with teams across marketing, content, social, community, ticketing, game presentation, communications and operations to coordinate and execute partner programs across the LA Orbit platform. We're looking for someone who is highly organized, relationship-driven and comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment. You know how to manage the details without losing sight of the relationship, communicate clearly across teams and take pride in delivering great work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the Partner Relationship
    • Serve as the primary day-to-day lead for LA Orbit's commercial partners, owning the relationship from handoff through renewal.
    • Build trusted relationships with partner and agency contacts and develop a strong understanding of their business, objectives and priorities.
    • Lead partner meetings, manage ongoing communication and ensure partners have clear visibility into upcoming opportunities, deadlines and deliverables.
    • Anticipate needs, solve problems and provide a consistently high level of service throughout the relationship.
  • Deliver the Partnership
    • Own the activation and fulfillment of contracted partnership assets across LA Orbit platforms, including in-arena, digital, social, content, community, hospitality and events.
    • Build and manage activation plans, timelines, asset trackers and partner calendars to keep programs moving and commitments on track.
    • Work across internal teams to coordinate partner deliverables, establish clear ownership and ensure what we have sold is executed at a high level.
    • Lead partner activations at home matches and key LA Orbit events.
    • Be willing to roll up your sleeves and execute. We are a growing team, and this role will often need to move work forward independently without a large activation team or layers of support.
  • Retain & Grow
    • Maintain a strong understanding of the health of each partner relationship, identifying risks and opportunities early.
    • Develop partner recaps and reporting that clearly communicate what was delivered and the impact of the partnership.
    • Drive renewal planning in partnership with the CRO and Partnership Sales team.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships and expand existing partnerships when there is a clear fit.
  • Help Build the Function
    • Help establish the processes, tools and standards that make partnership marketing at LA Orbit efficient, organized and scalable.
    • Bring solutions, not just problems, and be comfortable making decisions and moving work forward in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • As the organization grows, help shape what best-in-class partnership service and activation looks like at LA Orbit.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in partnership marketing, sponsorship activation, account management or integrated marketing, preferably within professional sports, entertainment, an agency or a brand with significant sponsorship investments.
  • Strong understanding of sponsorship and how brands use sports partnerships to support marketing and business objectives.
  • Experience executing partnerships across platforms such as digital, social, content, experiential, hospitality, community and live events.
  • Strong relationship-management and client-service skills.
  • Excellent project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple partners and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative working style and ability to coordinate effectively across multiple internal teams.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing organization where priorities can move quickly and team members work collaboratively across functions.
  • Experience working in professional sports or live events is preferred

Compensation

This role is full time and has a base salary range of $90,000-$100,000, depending on experience, plus a competitive bonus plan tied to team and partnership performance.
