SummaryThe Director, Operations - O&M provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial accountability for Enerflex's Operations & Maintenance (O&M) business across North America.
This position is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of customer-owned and company-operated assets. The Director leads regional operations teams, drives operational excellence, manages customer relationships, and ensures achievement of financial and operational objectives.
The role plays a critical part in scaling Enerflex's O&M business while establishing a culture of safety, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Principle Responsibilities and DutiesOperations Leadership- Lead all O&M operations across North America.
- Establish operational standards, policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Ensure effective execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Oversee plant startups, operational transitions, and mobilization activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Safety & Compliance- Champion a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, regulatory, and permitting requirements.
- Lead incident investigations and corrective action programs.
- Maintain emergency response and business continuity plans.
- Ensure operational risks are identified and mitigated.
Financial Management- Own operational P&L performance.
- Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and workforce plans.
- Drive achievement of revenue, EBITDA, and margin objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Monitor key operational and financial performance metrics.
Customer Management- Serve as executive sponsor for key customer accounts.
- Lead customer business reviews and performance discussions.
- Ensure contractual obligations and service level agreements are achieved.
- Support contract renewals and business development activities.
- Act as escalation point for critical customer issues.
Reliability & Asset Management- Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies which integrate AI to drive performance.
- Drive asset management programs that maximize equipment life and performance.
- Promote predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Standardize maintenance planning and execution practices.
Leadership & Talent Development- Build and lead a high-performing operations organization.
- Develop future leaders through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention efforts.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Growth- Support development and execution of the O&M growth strategy.
- Evaluate opportunities for market expansion and new service offerings.
- Participate in acquisition due diligence and integration activities.
- Lead implementation of systems and technologies that improve scalability and performance.
QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or related discipline required.
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in power generation, industrial services, utilities, energy infrastructure, or related industries.
- Minimum 5 years leading multi-site operations teams.
- Experience managing O&M contracts and customer relationships.
- Demonstrated operational P&L accountability (preferred).
- Experience with Natural Gas fired equipment, distributed generation, microgrids, or utility-scale generation preferred.
